Box Score GLASSBORO, NJ – The Rowan University men's soccer team defeated John Jay College, 6-2 on Saturday afternoon.
The Profs (3-3) compiled 33 total shots while the Bloodhounds (0-6) took nine. Rowan had six different players contribute with one goal. Forwards
Jake Conners (fr. Manalapan, NJ/Manalapan) and
Travis Ward (fr. New Egypt, NJ/New Egypt) each scored one goal and had one assist.
Midfielders
Vinny Ignatowicz (so. Toms River, NJ/Toms River S.) and
Silas Wood (fr. Lumberton, NJ/Rancocas Valley Reg.), forward
Shane Guyer (fr. Hammonton, NJ/Hammonton) and back
Brendan Macfarlane (fr. Ocean View, NJ/Ocean City) produced one goal apiece. Back
Mike Clauss (fr. Cherry Hill, NJ/Cherry Hill W.) registered an assist.
Midfielders Yotam Bloom and Graysen Carlson scored for John Jay. Rowan goalie
Kevin Vasta (sr. Randolph, NJ/Randolph) made four saves in 55:17. Goalkeepers
Andrew McNellis (jr. Williamstown, NJ/Williamstown) and
Jon Robbins (jr. Woodstown, NJ/Woodstown) played 24:48 and 9:55 respectively. For the Bloodhounds, goalie Wilfredo Valentin stopped three shots in the first half. Goalkeeper Andrew Berman turned away 11 shots in the second period.
The Profs started the game with four straight goals. Guyer scored the first in only 25 seconds. Ward had the second (3:59) with a shot from the left side of the box. Conners hit the back of the net at 9:22 on a pass from Ward. Ignatowicz dribbled around a defender then sent a shot into the goal (12:32). Bloom put John Jay on the scoreboard 21 seconds later. Wood knocked in a free kick by Conners at 24:27. Carlson's shot went into the lower left corner (29:37) of the Rowan net. Macfarlane put in a rebound for the final goal at 66:35 and Clauss had the assist.
Rowan travels to Arcadia University on Wednesday, September 17 for a 7 p.m. contest
