Box Score MOOSIC, PA – The second seed Rowan University baseball team fell to the third seed Susquehanna University, 5-4 in the second round of the NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regional on Thursday night.
 
The Mid-Atlantic Regional is being held at PNC Field. In the other second round games, #5 Misericordia University eliminated #1 Moravian College, 4-3, #7 Wesleyan University (CT) knocked out #6 Keystone College, 6-0 and #4 Baldwin Wallace University defeated #8 Haverford College, 10-2.
 
In the third round on Friday, May 16, the Profs (33-11) will play Misericordia (30-14-1) in the second game of the day at 1:15 p.m. The first game features Wesleyan (28-12) against Haverford (23-19) at 10 a.m. At 4:30 p.m. Susquehanna (30-12) faces Baldwin Wallace     (27-18). The winner of Wesleyan/Haverford faces the winner of Misericordia/Rowan in the nightcap at 7:45 p.m.
 
The national tournament is double elimination. The winners of the eight regional tournaments advance to the national championship that is scheduled for Friday-Tuesday, May 23-27 at Fox Cities Stadium in Appleton, WI.
 
Left-hander Casey Hood (jr. Shrewsbury, PA/Susquehannock) earned the victory. He (9-1) pitched 8.2 innings, allowing three runs and scattering 12 hits. Righty Matt Smith (sr. Blue Ridge Summit, PA/Wyoming Seminary) earned his 12^th save. He gave up one run on two hits. Lefty Ryan Sharkey (jr. Rutherford, NJ/St. Mary) suffered the loss. Sharkey (4-1) threw eight innings, giving up five runs, three earned runs on five hits with five strikeouts.
 
Second baseman Dylan Glassmire (so. Doylestown, PA/Central Bucks S.) registered three hits (four at bats) with two doubles and one run scored. Catcher Tom Shields (fr. Chalfont, PA/Central Bucks S.) went two for three, scored twice and had one RBI. Center fielder Ty Raubenstine (sr. Elizabethville, PA/Upper Dauphin Area) hit a double and drove in two runs. Designated hitter Kyle Semmel (jr. Burlington Twp., NJ/Holy Cross) recorded one RBI and first baseman Dylan Jenkins (fr. Glen Mills, PA/Bayard Rustin) scored once.
 
For Rowan, third baseman Kevin McMenamin (jr. Maple Shade, NJ/Maple Shade) went two for two with a run scored. Right fielder Ryan Pavlik (jr. Blackwood, NJ/Highland Reg.) had three hits in five at bats. First baseman Rich Powelson (jr. Shamong, NJ/Seneca) produced three hits and scored one run. Catcher Stephen Petriello (so. South Plainfield, NJ/South Plainfield) recorded two hits and drove in a run. Left fielder Nick Kreiger (jr. Manalapan, NJ/Manalapan) recorded two hits, one RBI and scored one run.
 
Rowan got on the board with a run in the second inning when Petriello registered a RBI single. Susquehanna took the lead in the fifth as Raubenstine hit a two run double. The Crusaders plated two more in the sixth. Semmel successfully converted a suicide squeeze bunt, which scored Glassmire. Shields then produced a RBI single for a 4-1 lead. Left fielder Jared Musilli (jr. Branchville, NJ/High Point Reg.) made it 5-1 with a run producing hit in the eighth.
 
With two outs in the ninth, Kreiger hit a single down the left field line that scored Powelson and pinch runner Scott Bruno (sr. Middletown, NJ/Middletown S.). Kreiger then crossed the plate on a wild pitch, making the final 5-4.
