Box Score UNION, NJ  – The Rowan University field hockey team defeated Kean University, 3-1 in a New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) game on Saturday evening.
 
Forward Courtney Aquino (so. Hammonton, NJ/Hammonton), midfielder Marisa Marini (jr. Carneys Point, NJ/Padua Academy (DE)) and back Erika Mecchella (sr. Gloucester City, NJ/Gloucester City) each scored one time.  Marini and Mecchella also had one assist apiece.  Midfielder Marissa Robinson (jr. Bear, DE/William Penn) had the Cougars' goal.
 
Rowan improves to 7-3 overall and 2-0 in the conference.  Kean has an 8-4 record with a 0-2 NJAC mark.  Goalie Carly DeMarco (fr. Gloucester City, NJ/Gloucester City) made five saves for the win.  For Kean, goalie Katie DiCarlo (jr. Shamong, NJ/Seneca) turned away 13 shots.
 
Robinson scored the first goal at 23:35.  Aquino knotted the score (32:18) when she tipped in Marini's shot on a penalty corner. 
 
In the second half, Marini put Rowan up 2-1 at 39:40.  She blasted a shot into the cage just inside the circle after a pass from Mecchella.  With 7:20 remaining, Mecchella scored the final goal unassisted.    
 
Next, Rowan hosts Wesley College on Wednesday, October 8 at 7 p.m.
