Weisler, Kowalczyk Score Two Goals Each as #10 Field Hockey Defeats Kean, 6-2, in the Regular-Season Finale

Top-seeded Rowan opens its NJAC Championship quest on Wednesday hosting a semifinal game

UNION, NJ - Sophia Weisler and Sydney Kowalczyk scored two goals apiece to help #10 Rowan to a 6-2 win at Kean in the field hockey regular-season finale. Rowan (15-4; 7-0) has won 15 of its last 16 games, having its 14-game winning streak come to an end with a non-league loss to #7 Salisbury earlier this week.

After earning its sixth straight NJAC regular-season title, Rowan is the top seed in this week's conference championship. The Profs earned a bye in the quarterfinals and will host the New Paltz-Kean winner in the semifinals on Wednesday, November 4 at 6 p.m. as they begin the quest for their sixth consecutive NJAC crown.

Weisler started off the scoring two minutes into the second quarter when Aurela McManis sent a shot towards the cage and Weisler deflected it into the left side of the cage.

The Cougars tied it in the same quarter as  Shannon Conroy scored on a close-range shot.

Chloe Yoder gave the Profs a 2-1 halftime lead when she scored as Rowan took a corner with :05 and she sent a shot through a crowd in front of the cage as time expired.

Weisler scored her second of the game at 37:32 to give the Profs a 3-1 lead for the second multiple-goal game of her career, and her first this season. Paige Gray got in the scoring column minutes later as she took a pass from Sydney Kowalczyk and scored at 40:41 to stretch Rowan's lead to 4-1.

Ali Stoner cut Kean's deficit to 4-2 with a goal in the third quarter but the Profs added two more in the fourth. Sydney Kowalczyk scored with an assist from Paige Gray and Kowalczyk notched her second before time expired, with Yoder earning the assist.

Rowan outshot the Cougars, 22-9, and Ella Morton made one save in goal.
