MONTCLAIR, NJ -
Sydney Kowalczyk scored two goals and
Sophia Weisler had two assists to lead the 15th-ranked Rowan field hockey team to a 4-0 win over Montclair State. The Profs have won 12 consecutive games, and are now 12-3 and 4-0 in the NJAC.
Ella Morton did not need to make any saves in the shutout as Rowan dominated offensively, outshooting the Red Hawks, 21-1. It marked the seventh time this year the Profs have held their foes scoreless.
Aurelia McManis notched Rowan's first goal at 7:24. After McManis sent the insert pass on the corner, Kowalczyk fed it back to her and the senior hit the back of the cage for a 1-0 Rowan lead.
Kowalczyk tallied her first of the game at 24:15 after taking a pass from Weisler, and then scored again three minutes later, with Weisler again contributing the assist. It was team-best 14th goal of the year and her fourth multiple-goal game.
Grace Angelo put in Rowan's final goal at 44:15, her third of the year, with
Peyton Ryan picking up the assist.
Rowan will host #24 TCNJ on Wednesday in a showdown of the undefeated teams in conference play with first-place on the line. Game time is 6:30 p.m. at Coach Wackar Stadium.
