GLASSBORO, NJ - Sydney Kowalczyk scored two goals, as #10 Rowan turned in a strong third quarter to defeat #24 TCNJ, 4-1, in a battle for first place in the NJAC field hockey standings. The Profs have now won 13 consecutive games and are 13-3 on the season, and 5-0 in the conference.

TCNJ (9-4; 4-1) took a 1-0 lead with 3:34 remaining in the first quarter, but once the second quarter began, the Profs and Kowalczyk took over.

The sophomore she received a pass at the 25-yard line, dribbled, spun and shot it into the left side from 11 yards out at 28:00 to tie the game.

Chloe Yoder broke the tie when she converted a penalty stroke, putting it past Brigitte Racey into the right side of the cage at 36:53, for the eventual gamewinner. That started a stretch of three Rowan goals in four minutes to give the Profs the win.

In the third quarter, Kowalczyk set up the next goal as she had a close-range shot blocked, then controlled the rebound and chipped it to Gracie Merrick, who was at the right post and knocked it in at 38:14 for her fourth goal of the season and a 3-1 Rowan lead

The Profs put it out of reach at 40:48 when Kowalczyk intercepted a pass, carried it to the 10-yard line and rocketed a shot that hit the left post and crossed the line. It marked her second multiple-goal game of the year, while she increased her totals to a team-best 16 goals and eight assists.

Rowan held a slim 7-6 lead in shots on goal, with Ella Morton making five saves to earn the win. There were no penalty corners taken by either team in the first half, and Rowan didn't get its first until seven minutes remained in the third quarter, while TCNJ's first corner came two minutes into the fourth.

Rowan remains at home and gets the University's Homecoming Weekend underway when it hosts New Paltz on Friday night at 7 p.m.
