ELIZABETHTOWN, PA – The Rowan University baseball team rolled over Elizabethtown College, 12-1 on Tuesday. 

The Profs are 14-9 overall while the Blue Jays have an 11-7 record.  Right-hander Dylan Johannink (so. Medford Lakes, NJ/Shawnee) threw seven innings for the victory.  He (2-0) only allowed five hits and one earned run.  Johannink struck out nine batters.  Righty Kris Davis (2-5) was the losing pitcher.

Rowan designated hitter Casey Grimes (so. Gibbstown, NJ/Paulsboro) totaled three hits in four at bats, one double, a grand slam and seven RBIs.  Right fielder Nick Kreiger (so. Manalapan, NJ/Manalapan)   contributed with three hits (six at bats), two RBIs and two runs scored.  Shortstop Ryan Williams (so. Southampton, NJ/Seneca) registered three hits (five at bats), two RBIs and two runs scored.  Second baseman Mark Benak (jr. South Plainfield, NJ/South Plainfield) produced two hits (six at bats), a double and three runs scored. 

Third baseman Kevin McMenamin (so. Maple Shade, NJ/Maple Shade) and left fielder Evan Hughes (fr. Wilmington, DE/Alexis I. duPont) each had two hits and one run scored.  Catcher Greg Myers (fr. Haddon Twp., NJ/Haddon Twp.) added one hit (three at bats), one RBI and one run scored.  First baseman Sean Kelly (sr. North Bergen, NJ/North Bergen) recorded a double and scored one run.     

For Elizabethtown, catcher Dillon Tagle was two for three with a double and one RBI.  Third baseman Tyler Weary scored the lone run. 

Rowan was ahead 2-1 after the first inning.  Grimes’ double down the right field line scored Kreiger and Benak.  Grimes recorded a grand slam in the second inning for a 6-1 lead.  In the fourth inning, Benak crossed the plate on a single to center field by Grimes.  The Profs added five more runs in the seventh inning.  Myers drove in Kelly with a base hit.  Williams and Kreiger each had a two RBI single. 

Rowan plays at home on Wednesday, April 10 against Franklin & Marshall College at 4 p.m.
