NORTH ANDOVER, MA – Quarterback Joe Clancy threw for 325 yards and two touchdowns to lead Division II Merrimack College to a 30-7 victory over Rowan University on Saturday.

The Warriors and Profs are both 1-1 on the season.  Clancy (sr. Newburyport, MA/Newburyport) completed 33 of 48 passes.  He also had eight rushes for 26 yards and a touchdown.  Running back Jimon Hill (sr. North Chicago, IL/North Chicago) carried the ball 21 times for 98 yards.  Wide receiver Isaiah Voegeli (sr. Hyannis, MA/Barnstable) had 11 receptions for 85 yards.  Wideout Zach Ingalls (so. Westford, MA/Westford Academy) added nine catches for 124 yards and one touchdown.  Tight end Steve Serwon (sr. Amesbury, MA/Amesbury) hauled in five balls for 58 yards and one touchdown.

Defensive back Artis Holt (sr. Baltimore, MD/St. Joseph’s) registered seven tackles (four solo, three assisted) and one interception.  Linebacker Chris Unis (so. Gloucester, MA/Gloucester) had seven stops (one solo, six assisted), 2.5 tackles for a loss (-4 yards) and 0.5 sacks (-4 yards).  Linebackers Jimmy Holland (jr. Billerica, MA/Billerica) and Ervin Johnson (jr. Bradenton, FL/Old Dominion) contributed with six tackles (four solo, two assisted) apiece.

For Rowan, quarterback Louie Bianchini (sr. West Long Branch, NJ/Red Bank Catholic) threw for 102 yards with 11 completions in 18 attempts.  Running back Matt Dortch (jr. Wayne, NJ/Wayne Valley) ran for 85 yards on 16 touches.  Wide receivers Ed Eisenhart (so. Mullica Hill, NJ/Clearview Reg.) and Anthony Barone (sr. Hammonton, NJ/Hammonton) each made three catches for 25 and 24 yards respectively.

Linebackers Darren Dungee (fr. Morristown, NJ/Morristown) and Patrick Ruley (sr. Margate, NJ/Atlantic City) each compiled 14 tackles.  Ruley also blocked a kick.  Linebacker Dominic Caruso (jr. Cherry Hill, NJ/Cherry Hill W.) followed with 12 stops (seven solo, five assisted).  Safety Kurt Kingett (so. Sewell, NJ/St. Augustine Prep) made eight tackles (seven solo, one assisted) and had a 42 yard interception return for a touchdown.  It was his second defensive touchdown in as many weeks.  Defensive tackle Steve Williams (sr. Westmont, NJ/Haddon Twp.) forced a fumble.

Merrimack went up, 6-0 at 1:34 in the first quarter on a six yard run by wide receiver Steven Browne (so. Staten Island, NY/Tottenville).  The two point conversion was no good.  Clancy completed six of six passes for 49 yards.  At 8:15 in the second, Kingett intercepted a pass and returned it 42 yards for a touchdown to give Rowan a 7-6 lead. 

With 11 seconds remaining, kicker Nick Zwann (so. Longmeadow, MA/Longmeadow) converted a 36 yard field goal to make the score, 9-7 at the intermission.  In the drive, wide receiver Quinn McDonough (jr. Medford, MA/Malden Catholic) had three rushes for 14 yards and two receptions for 15.  Ingalls added a 23 yard grab.

At 13:14 in the third stanza, Clancy threw a 25 yard touchdown pass to Ingalls.  The extra point was blocked by Ruley.  The Warriors started on their own 30 yard line.  Clancy completed two throws for 31 yards, Hill had a five yard run and Rowan committed a 15 yard roughing the passer penalty. 

Merrimack recovered the ensuing on-side kick at the Rowan 33 yard line.  Hill had two runs for 16 yards and Ingalls caught a 16 yard pass.  Clancy’s nine yard touchdown run followed at 10:52.  Hill ran in the two point conversion to extend the advantage to 16 (23-7).  With 4:08 left in the third, Serwon had a 31 yard touchdown reception.  The Warriors drove 68 yards on seven plays.  Clancy threw for 63 yards with three completions in four attempts.
