Vanessa DiDonato Receives NFHCA Offensive Player of the Week Honorable Mention

GLASSBORO, NJ - Sophomore Vanessa DiDonato of the Rowan field hockey team received Honorable Mention in the selection of the NFHCA Offensive Player of the Week, after her performance last week as the third-ranked Profs captured their second consecutive conference championship.

DiDonato scored four goals in the 6-1 NJAC Semifinal win over Montclair State, marking the most goals in one game by any Prof this season. She also set up the winning goal in the championship game vs. TCNJ, as she was taken down in the circle by a defender, which gave the Profs a penalty stroke that Julia Patrone converted for the eventual gamewinner.

The sophomore forward was also named the NJAC Offensive Player of the Week for her efforts in helping Rowan win the title and earn the league's automatic bid into the NCAA Championship. She is the team's third leading scorer with a career-high 15 goals and four assists.

Rowan will host the NCAA Division III Field Hockey Championships Second and Third Rounds on November 12 and 13 at Coach Richard Wackar Stadium. The third-ranked Profs (19-1) received a bye and will play the winner of the first-round matchup between Cabrini and Christopher Newport on Saturday, November 12 at 11 a.m. with Messiah facing the Castleton-Tufts winner at 2 p.m. The second-round winners will face off on Sunday, November 13 at 1 p.m. for a trip to the national semifinals on November 18 here at Rowan.
