Field Hockey Earns Nation's Number-One Ranking; Profs Host #3 Salisbury on Wednesday

Marks the first time that Rowan is number one since winning the NCAA Championship in 2002

GLASSBORO, NJ - Rowan's field hockey team has achieved the nation's number-one ranking in NCAA Division III as voted on by the National Field Hockey Coaches Association, in the NFHCA Poll that was announced today. It marks the Profs' first number-one ranking since the 2002 season, when Rowan won the national championship while posting a perfect 21-0 record.

NFHCA POLL

Rowan is currently 14-0 and moves up one spot after holding the #2 ranking since September 13. Middlebury, which owned the top ranking all year, was defeated by #7 Trinity, 2-1, this past weekend, and moves down to second in the poll.

The Profs will have a tough test in their first game as the nation's top-ranked team when they host the only other undefeated team in Division III, #3 Salisbury (13-0). The teams will face off on Wednesday evening, October 19, at 7 p.m. in Coach Richard Wackar Stadium.

Admission is free to the Rowan-Salisbury game with all students receiving a Profs' Title IX commemorative t-shirt (while supplies last).

Julia Patrone leads the Profs in scoring with 16 goals and nine assists, followed by two-time All-American midfielder Kristiina Castagnola, who has totaled 14 points and four assists.
