Beasley, 4x100 and 4x400 Meter Relays Advance to Finals at NCAA Track & Field Championships

GREENSBORO, NC – Rowan's Jah'mere Beasley in the 200 meter dash and the 4x100 and 4x400 meter relays advanced to the finals at the NCAA Division III Track & Field Championships on Saturday. The national championships are being held at the Irvin Belk Track Complex from Thursday-Saturday, May 27-29.
 
Beasley won the second heat of the 200 meters in 21.33.  His time is second among the eight finalists.  The top two from the three heats and the next two will compete in Saturday's final at 2:50 p.m.  Beasley was ranked fourth (21.18) among the national qualifiers.
 
In the prelims, the 4x100 meter relay of Julian Pratt, Donovan Clement, Beasley and Nana Agyemang finished third in heat one in 41.01, which is fifth among the final eight teams.  The top three teams in the two heats and the next two best times moved on to the final on Saturday at 12:15 p.m.  The 4x100 meter relay qualified for nationals with a time of 41.32 and was  11th out of 14 teams.  
 
Rowan took second place in heat two of the 4x400 meter relay.  Amara Conte, Hunter Barbieri, Francis Terry and Justin Bishop ran a time of 3:11.40.  The 4x400 meter relay is third going into the final on Saturday at 4 p.m.  There were two heats of the 4x400 meter relay and the top three from each heat plus the next best two advanced to the final.  The 4x400 meter relay had the sixth best time (3:12.35) among the 14 national qualifiers .
 
In the long jump, Ahmir Johnson came in ninth and Agyemang followed 10th.  Johnson's top leap was 22' 7.75" (6.90 m) in his second attempt.  Agyemang finished with 22' 6.50" (6.87 m).  This season, Agyemang was named the conference's Thomas M Gerrity Most Outstanding Athlete and to the New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) All-Conference first team in the long jump.  Johnson earned All-Conference second team honors.  Both student-athletes received All-Region honors.
 
Ian Bain finished 15th in the discus.  His top throw was 143' 2" (43.65 m) on his first attempt.  Bain was ranked 10th among the qualifiers with 167' 4" (51.01 m).  This season, he was named to the NJAC All-Conference first team and the Atlantic All-Region Team.
 
On Friday, Beasley and Pratt will compete in the 100 meter dash prelims at 3:45 p.m.  Dan McAleavey, Edgar Rosa and Julio Lebron follow in the javelin at 4:45 p.m.
