Abby Hainsworth Named National Defensive Player of the Week by the NFHCA

BROCKPORT, NY - Rowan goalkeeper Abby Hainsworth has been named the NFHCA National Division III Defensive Player of the Week, as chosen by the coaches association, as she registered a pair of shutouts over ranked teams last week. She becomes the second goalie in the program's history to earn the defensive honor as Morgan Novak received it in 2018.

The sophomore posted consecutive shutouts starting with a 1-0 overtime decision at #11 TCNJ, where she made two saves on the day. In the Profs' 1-0 win over then-#3 Kean, Hainsworth made three saves, including one at point-blank range with 10 minutes remaining to preserve the victory.

Hainsworth has now recorded three consecutive shutouts for the Profs, and owns a 1.16 goals against average and a save percentage of .680.

Rowan climbed six spots to a national ranking of sixth in this week's Penn Monto/NFHCA National Coaches Poll, making the biggest move of any team in the poll. The Profs are 8-2, and 3-0 in the NJAC, and in the midst of a six-game winning streak while earning their highest ranking of the season.

The Profs return to action tonight by hosting a non-conference matchup with Arcadia at 7 p.m. at Coach Richard Wackar Stadium.
