AMHERST, MA – The Rowan University women's basketball team meets host Amherst College on Saturday, March 7 at 6 p.m. in the second round of the NCAA Division III Championship Tournament.
The Profs are 25-3 overall and the Mammoths have a 23-4 record. In the first round, Rowan won over the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy, 72-68 and Amherst defeated Framingham State University, 70-46.

The second round winner advances to the sectionals, which are scheduled for Friday-Saturday, March 13-14 at campus sites. The semifinals are on Friday, March 20 and the championship is on Saturday, March 21 at the Capital Center Performance Area in Columbus, OH.

Against the Merchant Marine Academy, Rowan had four players in double figures. Guard
Savanna Holt scored a game and career-high 22 points, which included five three pointers. Guard
Kennedy Brown totaled 13 points, six rebounds and four assists. Forward
Eliana Santana and Mallard contributed with 11 and 10 points respectively. Santana grabbed eight boards while Mallard chipped in with six rebounds and six steals.
Amherst had 12 players that scored versus Framingham State. Guard Madeline Eck led the way with 13 points and six rebounds. Guard Hannah Fox produced nine points and six defensive boards. Forward Jade Duval collected eight points and nine rebounds. Guard Kailyn Shepard added eight points and guard Maggie Shipley followed with seven points and eight rebounds.
This is Rowan's 11
th appearance in the NCAA postseason and the first since 2016. The Profs received an automatic bid as the New Jersey Athletic Conference Champions. Amherst is in the NCAAs for the 13
th straight year and it received an at-large bid. The Mammoths have won the NCAA title three times (2018, 2017, 2011) and they finished third once and fourth three times.
Rowan was second in the Atlantic Region in the final NCAA Region Rankings. The Profs were second in all four weeks of the rankings. This week, they moved up to 18
th in the Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) Top 25 Poll. Amherst was second in the final NCAA Northeast Region Rankings. The Mammoths were fifth in the WBCA Top 25 Poll and sixth in the D3hoops.com Top 25.
