GLASSBORO, NJ -- Sixth-seeded Rutgers-Camden scored a 69-55 win over third-seeded Rowan in the quarterfinals of the NJAC Women's Basketball Championship at Esby Gym. Rutgers-Camden advances to the semifinals against second-seeded TCNJ on Tuesday, while the Profs close out their season with a 16-10 record.
Jes Mastriano scored 19 points, a career high, in her final game as a Prof, making 4-of-7 from the field with
Megan Donelson adding 11 points and seven rebounds.
Rutgers-Camden led 17-10 in the first quarter before the Profs fought back. A jumper from
Jess McLaughlin and free throw by Mastriano closed the gap to 18-15 at the end of the quarter.
The Scarlet Raptors (14-12) were able to build up a 24-17 lead early in the second quarter and then took their first double-digit lead, 33-21, with 2:54 remaining. From there, Rutgers-Camden took control in the second half, opening the third quarter with a 12-1 run to take a 50-24 lead. The Scarlet Raptors expanded it to 53-26 for their biggest margin of the game. Nine of Rowan's final 11 points of the quarter came from the foul line, with
Haley Selmer getting the only field goal in the final minute as the Profs trailed, 56-35.
The Profs were 27-of-41 from the foul line but hit just 14-of-44 from the field. Rutgers-Camden made 8-of-19 from three-point range to aid the victory.
Courtney Edmundo hit three of the team's eight three's to finish with 26 points and also added nine rebounds, both game highs for the visitors.
