AMHERST, MA – Amherst College has made the decision to not allow fans to attend the first and second round games of the NCAA Women's Basketball Championships on Friday, March 6 and Saturday, March 7.
Director of Amherst Athletics Donald Faulstick sent out an email to the NCAA Women's Basketball Participants.
Below are statements that were included in the email.
"Given the rapidly evolving nature of the global COVID-19 outbreak, Amherst has carefully examined the information and guidance available to us and made the difficult decision to prohibit spectators at the NCAA basketball contests at LeFrak Gymnasium. Tailgating will also be prohibited. The games will be livestreamed as planned and can be viewed at

"Please be aware that we are taking these actions out of an abundance of caution and being mindful of the health of the Amherst community, including the teams that are competing. We genuinely regret any inconvenience to the families and fans of the players."
