Know Your Profs: Natalie Ogden

This week's "Know Your Profs" highlights junior Natalie Ogden of the volleyball team. Last season, Ogden earned All-NJAC Second Team honors and ranked third on the Profs with 315 kills and second with 466 digs. A chemical engineering major, she was named a Rowan Scholar-Athlete of Distinction in 2019.

What was the biggest factor that led you to choose Rowan?
I really wanted to study engineering and play volleyball in college. Rowan was one of the very few places where I could do both. I also loved the team and Rowan's campus.

What is your most memorable moment in sports, whether at Rowan or before?
My most memorable moment in volleyball was when my high school team got second in states my junior and senior year. Another memorable moment was this past season, when we made it to NJAC finals after not making it for so many years.

If you could play any other sport in college, what would it be and why?

If I didn't play volleyball, I would've played basketball. Before volleyball became my primary sport, I was also playing basketball until I decided to play volleyball year round.

Who was your biggest role model growing up?
My biggest role model was Kerri Walsh Jennings because not only was she amazing at volleyball, but she also inspired so many people. She's still playing to this day after having several children and never lets anything stop her from playing the sport she loves.

If you could travel anywhere in the world where would you go and why?
I would want to go to Greece because there are so many beautiful places to visit, such as the several beaches and towns.

What's your choice – Netflix, YouTube, Cable TV? Favorite show?
Netflix and my favorite show is The Office.

Who is your favorite professional athlete or team?
The Eagles

Who is your favorite follow on social media?
Lucky Dawg Animal Rescue, my family and I have been fostering dogs and volunteering for them for a few years now.

Which do you prefer – online classes or in person?
I prefer in person classes mainly because my major is engineering and it can be tough sometimes to learn through online lectures. In person also helps me focus more on the material we are learning.

What is your major at Rowan and what are your career aspirations?

My major is chemical engineering and I hope to work in the pharmaceutical industry where I can manufacture and produce drugs or be able to research and engineer new drugs.

What's the best thing about being a Prof?

The best thing about being a Prof is how close the athletic department is. Everyone genuinely cares about each individual and each sports team.
