Volleyball Taken Out of NJAC Playoffs in a 3-1 Semifinal Loss to Stockton

GLASSBORO, NJ -- Rowan suffered a 3-1 (25-23, 25-22, 17-25, 28-26) defeat to Stockton Thursday night in the semifinal round of the 2025 New Jersey Athletic Conference Tournament.

The second-seeded Profs were looking to advance to the NJAC Finals for the first time since the 2022 season, but the team's rally in front of a packed Esbjornson Gymnasium to force a fifth and deciding set came up just short.

The Ospreys, the third seed, will play at top-seeded Kean in the conference championship on Saturday.

Abby Chadwick poured in a career-high 19 kills, putting down six in the third set to keep the Profs alive after falling behind, 2-0. Jessica Smart added 17 kills as Rowan had it's seven-match win streak come to an end.

Stockton's Kate Louer had a match-best 20 kills including nine in the fourth and decisive set.

A back-and-forth affair, the two teams battled through 27 ties and 12 lead changes over the four sets. In the first set, Rowan used a 12-5 run to tie things up at 21-21, however the Ospreys netted the final three points. Similarly, Stockton ran off a 7-1 spurt to grab a lead midway through the second and hold off the home team to go up two sets to none.

Chadwick had four kills as part of a late 9-2 stretch in the third to move things to a fourth set.

The Profs trailed 11-6 in the fourth but rallied to get it to 15-15. Stockton countered with five-straight points of its own to reclaim the lead. Chadwick came through with her kill to knot it at 24-24. Rowan held a 26-25 lead, but Louer recorded two kills as part of a three-point swing to end the contest in four sets.

Selections to the NCAA Tournament will take place Monday, November 17th at 1 p.m. on NCAA.com. The Profs will await a possible at-large berth.
