SALISBURY, MD – The Rowan University field hockey team plays the University of Lynchburg in the second round of the NCAA Division III Championship Tournament on Saturday, Nov. 16 at 2 p.m. The second and third round games will be held at Salisbury University.

In the second round, Salisbury (18-1) faces FDU-Florham (18-4) at 11 a.m. The two winners meet in the third round on Sunday, Nov. 17 at 1 p.m. Lynchburg (19-3) defeated Centre College, 2-1 in the first round while FDU-Florham shut out Marywood University, 1-0.
The semifinals and final are scheduled for Saturday and Sunday, Nov. 23 and 24 at Spooky Nook Sports in Manheim, PA.
This is Rowan's 20
th appearance in the national tournament. The Profs are 15-4 on the season and they received an at-large bid to the NCAAs. In the regular season, Rowan lost at Lynchburg, 4-3. Last year, the field hockey team advanced to the national semifinals. Rowan defeated Lynchburg, 1-0 in the second round and the University of Rochester, 4-0 in the third. The Profs had a 4-2 loss in the semifinal game against the national champion Middlebury College. Rowan won the NCAA Championship in 2002 and finished third three times (1998, 2000, 2018).
Lynchburg earned an automatic bid as the Old Dominion Athletic Conference Champion. The Hornets are in the NCAA tournament for the 18
th time and second straight year. Salisbury won the Capital Athletic Conference title and was an automatic selection. The Sea Gulls have played in the postseason 35 times. Salisbury has won the NCAA Championship five times (1986, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2009). The Sea Gulls were the national runner-up in 2013. They also finished third six times and fourth once. FDU-Florham was the champion of the Middle Atlantic Conference Freedom for an automatic berth. This is the Devils' fifth trip to the NCAA tournament.
Forwards
Bridget Guinan and
Krystyna Hovell lead the Profs in scoring with 42 and 41 points respectively. Guinan has totaled 17 goals and eight points while Hovell has produced 18 goals and five assists. They were named to the New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) All-Conference first team.
Midfielder
Kristiina Castagnola has contributed with 37 points, 14 goals and nine assists. She was selected to the NJAC first team for the second straight year. Back
Casey Wagner leads the team in assists with 10. She has added 14 points (2-10). The senior was chosen the NJAC Defensive Player of the Year and to the All-Conference first team.

Alyssa Magliaro each have chipped in with 12 points. Goalie
Morgan Novak has compiled 132 saves for an 81.5 save percentage. She has a 1.61 goals against average and four shutouts.
