Box Score GLASSBORO, NJ – The Rowan University women's lacrosse team outscored Catholic University, 7-5 in the second half but it was not enough to erase an early deficit in a 14-11 loss to the visiting Cardinals in the second round of the NCAA Division III Championship Tournament.
The Profs end their season with a 14-4 record. Rowan set a new school mark for wins in a campaign. Catholic (15-6) advances to the regional round, where it will play York College (PA) on Saturday, May 19 at a location to be determined.
Midfielder/attack Anna Maupin (fr. Stafford, VA/Colonial Forge) led the Cardinals with three goals and two assists. Attacks Holly Regan (so. Stony Brook, NY/Ward Melville) and Nicolette Crisalli (sr. Silver Spring, MD/St. John's College) scored four and three goals respectively. Midfielders Ally Criscuolo (so. Southampton, NJ/Bishop Eustace), Jessica Lyons (jr. Havertown, PA/Haverford) and Julia Clementi (so. Harborfields, NY/Harborfields) and attack Megan Ellis (jr. Ashburn, VA/Stone Bridge) each scored one time. Lyons added seven draw controls and four ground balls. Attack Molly Kelly (jr. East Providence, RI/La Salle Academy) notched one assist. Goalkeeper Nanci Hernandez (so. San Diego, CA/Scripps Ranch) stopped five shots and collected four ground balls.

The teams played just over a minute before having to clear the field due to lightning in the area. After the delay, the game resumed and Catholic took a 3-0 lead after goals by Clementi (27:34), Ellis (25:14) and Maupin (22:46). Mickendrow got Rowan on the board at 18:51. The Cardinals posted five of the next six tallies to open up an 8-2 advantage with 8:04 on the clock. Kramer produced consecutive goals at 7:31 and 6:50 to close the gap to four (8-4). Lyons ended the scoring with 29 seconds to go and Catholic took a 9-4 lead into the intermission.
Regan found the net twice (28:04, 26:40) to begin the second half. Kramer registered her third goal at 25:47 to make the score 11-5. Crisalli scored back-to-back markers, including one while shorthanded, to increase the margin to eight (13-5) at the 19:50 mark. The Profs started their charge with three straight goals to get within five (13-8) with 17:41 to play. Maupin scored at 15:50 to make it 14-8. Kramer (14:16) and Bray (8:47) beat Hernandez and Rowan trailed by four (14-10). Horner made a pair of saves and the Profs totaled five shots in the final minutes but only Doyle's went into the goal with 35 seconds remaining. Lyons controlled the ensuing draw and Catholic ran out the clock.
