Box Score UNION, NJ – The Rowan University women's lacrosse team defeated Kean University, 14-8 on Friday night.
The Profs, ranked 23
rd, have a 7-1 record while it was the first loss on the season for the Cougars (10-1). The game was the conference opener for both teams.

Ashley Lechliter (fr. Cherry Hill, NJ/Cherry Hill W.) and
Alex DeGaris (jr. Hillsborough, NJ/Hillsborough) contributed with two goals apiece.

Mikala Gillespie (jr. Ocean City, NJ/Ocean City) chipped in with one goal and two assists while midfielder
Taylor Gretz (jr. Woolwich Twp., NJ/Kingsway Reg.) produced one goal and one assist. Midfielders
Abby Daigle (fr. Millville, NJ/Millville) and
Liz Kramer (jr. Mullica Hill, NJ/Clearview Reg.) each found the net one time.
Goalie
Erin Horner (sr. Mullica Hill, NJ/Kingsway Reg.) made nine saves and had five ground balls. Bray totaled seven draw controls and four ground balls. Gretz caused four turnovers and collected four draw controls and three ground balls.
For Kean, midfielder/attack Emily Stasuk (sr. Baltimore, MD/John Carroll) produced three goals and one assist. Attack Morgan Graham (jr. Lake Grove, NY/Ward Melville) followed with two goals and an assist. Midfielders Lex Meyer (jr. Long Branch, NJ/Long Branch) and Brittany Ballack (sr. Monroe Twp., NJ/Monroe Twp.) and attack Krista LaMaina (sr. Oaklyn, NJ/Collingswood) all had one goal.
Goalie Nikki Apostolopoulos (sr. Yonkers, NY/The Ursuline School) turned away 14 shots and picked up five ground balls. Ballack registered four grounds balls and three draw controls. LaMaina also had three draw controls.
The Profs started the game with goals by Bray (29:02) and Gillespie (23:14). Bray scored with a free position shot while Gretz had the assist on Gillespie's tally. Graham put Kean on the scoreboard (22:25) with a pass from Stasuk. Rowan followed with five straight goals to lead 7-1 with 11:19 left in the half. DeGaris and Doyle each hit the net twice and Mickendrow scored one time. LaMaina had an unassisted goal (10:31) before the Profs had three more for a 10-2 advantage (4:33). Kramer, Mickendrow and Gretz all scored one goal. Meyer ended the period with a free position goal (1:20) and Kean trailed 10-3.
Stasuk (28:06) and Ballack (19:22) each found the net in the second half to cut the deficit to five (10-5). The Profs led 12-5 after goals from Daigle (17:55) and Bray (17:46) that were nine seconds apart. Graham had an unassisted goal (16:43) then Lechliter scored two straight, which made the score 14-6 with 12:56 on the clock. Stasuk had the last two goals (7:45, 2:04) on free position shots to end the game.
