Box Score HAVERFORD, PA – The Rowan University baseball team shut out Haverford College, 2-0 on Tuesday.
The Profs' two runs came in the sixth inning. With one out, designated hitter
Shawn Leydon (sr. Succasunna, NJ/Roxbury) hit a double to left center field. Second baseman
Alex Kokos (so. Wayne, NJ/Wayne Valley) followed with a double down the right field line, scoring Leydon. Kokos advanced to third on a ground out and he came home on a single to center field by left fielder
Monny Strickland (sr. Egg Harbor Twp., NJ/Egg Harbor Twp.).
Rowan, ranked first in the American Baseball Coaches Association Poll, has a 10-game win streak. The Profs are 13-1 overall and third in the D3baseball.com Top 25. Haverford drops to 7-9 on the season.
Right-hander
Andrew Cartier (jr. Estell Manor, NJ/Buena Reg.) threw seven innings for the victory. He (2-0) only allowed three hits and had eight strikeouts.
Jeremy Dyzenhaus (so. Morganville, NJ/Marlboro) was on the mound for the final two innings and earned his second save. He only faced six batters, three in each inning. Righty Luke Duris (jr. Bensalem, PA/Holy Ghost Prep) took the loss. He (1-2) gave up five hits and two earned runs while striking out six.
Rowan was held to six hits. Strickland ended the game with two hits (four at bats). Right fielder
Kyle Golla (sr. Palm Coast, FL/Allentown (NJ)) and catcher
Steven Hewa (jr. Galloway, NJ/Absegami) contributed with one hit apiece.
The Fords had hits from shortstop Ben Furlong (sr. Washington, DC/Georgetown Prep), third baseman Spencer Sohmer (sr. Croton on Hudson, NY/Hackley School) and center field Ethan Lee-Tyson (jr. Weston, CT/Weston).
