Women's Lacrosse Starts Season with 11-10 Win At Ursinus

Box Score COLLEGEVILLE, PA – The Rowan University women's lacrosse team started the season with an 11-10 win at Ursinus College on Wednesday.
 
The Bears knotted the score at 10 after a goal by defender/midfielder Franny Liberatoscioli (sr. Malvern, PA/Great Valley) (9:56) and two from midfielder Emily DiGiorgio (jr. Downingtown, PA/Downingtown W.) (8:14, 6:25).  With 4:48 on the clock, attack Maddie Bray (jr. Medford Lakes, NJ/Shawnee) recorded the game-winner with a free position shot.
 
Bray ended the game with six goals.  Midfielder Liz Kramer (jr. Mullica Hill, NJ/Kingsway Reg.) contributed with one goal and one assist.  Attacks Kim Doyle (sr. Wayne, NJ/Wayne Valley), Alex DeGaris (jr. Hillsborough, NJ/Hillsborough) and Ashley Lechliter (fr. Cherry Hill, NJ/Cherry Hill W.) and midfielder Nicole Mickendrow (sr. Jackson, NJ/Jackson Liberty) all hit the net one time. Attack Mikala Gillespie (jr. Ocean City, NJ/Ocean City) chipped in with an assist.
 
For the Bears (0-3), DiGiorgio registered five goals and an assist.  Liberatoscioli followed with two goals and attack Grace Langen (fr. Easton, PA/Easton) added one goal and one assist. Attack Taylor DeBernardi (sr. Springfield, PA/Springfield) and midfielder Kaci McNeave (jr. Westminster, MD/St. Paul's School for Girls) each scored one time.
 
Ursinus goalie Kaitlyn France (jr. Aston, PA/Sun Valley) stopped 13 shots while Rowan goalie Erin Horner (sr. Mullica Hill, NJ/Kingsway Reg.) made four saves.  Bray collected six ground balls while Kramer and Mickendrow each had four.  Mickendrow also caused three turnovers.
 
The score was tied at four to start the second half.  The two teams exchanged free position goals with one each from Bray (27:09) and Liberatoscioli (26:45).  Rowan followed with four straight goals by Bray, DeGaris, Mickendrow and Bray to lead 9-5 with 19:05 remaining.  McNeave (12:58) scored with a player down and DiGiorgio found the net (11:52) to pull within two.  Lechliter recorded her first collegiate goal (10:39) for the Profs and the score was 10-7.
 
In the first half, the Bears jumped out to a 2-0 lead after goals by DiGiorgio (26:56) and Langen (25:31).  Kramer put Rowan on the scoreboard at 22:58 with an assist from Gillespie.  DeBernardi hit the net (20:52) after a pass from DiGiorgio.  Forty-five seconds later, DiGiorgio scored for a 4-1 advantage. 

The Profs cut the deficit to one with two straight goals.  Bray had the first on a free position shot (18:33) and Doyle followed (13:26) with help from Kramer.  Rowan tied the score (5:38) before the break with an unassisted tally by Bray.  She picked up a ground ball before her tying shot.   
 
Next, Rowan hosts Stevens Institute of Technology in the home opener on Saturday, March 3 at 1 p.m.
