Box Score UNION, NJ – Ramapo College catcher Mario Fontanella recorded a walk-off single in the bottom of the 10
th inning to give the Roadrunners a 4-3 victory over the Rowan University baseball team in the New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) Championship Tournament on Monday.
The third-seeded Profs (28-16) were eliminated with the loss. They will look to receive an at-large bid to the NCAA Division III Championship Tournament when the selections are announced on Sunday, May 14. Ramapo, the second seed, advances to the conference title game against top-seeded The College of New Jersey. The Roadrunners have a 25-15 record.
Right-hander Kevin Foulds (so. Sparta, NJ/Sparta) earned the win in relief. He (4-0) threw the final 2.2 innings and allowed just two hits. Righty
Brad Machinski (sr. Cherry Hill, NJ/Cherry Hill W.) suffered the loss. He (6-2) did yeoman's work as the starter, pitching into the 10
th inning.
First baseman Connor Walsh (jr. Waldwick, NJ/Waldwick) led Ramapo with three hits (four at bats). Center fielder Brandon Martinez (sr. River Edge, NJ/River Dell) recorded a home run and three RBIs. Shortstop Austin Unglaub (jr. Sparta, NJ/Sparta), right fielder Rob DeAngelis (sr. Staten Island, NY/Monsignor Farrell) and pinch runner Kevin Cagnetta (so. Warren, NJ/Watchung Hills) all scored one run. Unglaub added a double.

Alex Kokos (fr. Wayne, NJ/Wayne Valley) went three-for-five with one run scored. Right fielder

In the first inning, Martinez sent a three-run blast to left field to give the Roadrunners an early 3-0 lead. Machinski settled in after that, throwing eight straight scoreless frames and keeping the Profs in the game. Rowan broke through for two runs in the seventh. Kokos came home on Aiello's sacrifice and Clapper's base hit plated Hewa. The Profs tied the score in the eighth. Leydon walked with one out and Strickland followed with a RBI double down the left field line. The first three Ramapo batters reached to load the bases in the bottom of the 10
th. Fontanella (jr. Amston, CT/Rham) followed with the game-winning hit, sending the first pitch back up the middle.
