Box Score GLASSBORO, NJ – The Rowan University baseball team had a 9-8 victory over visiting Stockton University in a New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) game on Sunday afternoon.
The Profs up their record to 18-9 overall while the Ospreys are 11-11. Both teams have a 3-3 conference mark.
Rowan trailed 7-6 entering the bottom of the eighth inning. Pinch hitter
Shawn Leydon (jr. Roxbury, NJ/Roxbury) singled up the middle with one out. First baseman
Dillon Mendel (so. Sparta, NJ/Sparta) had a base hit and there were runners at first and second. Second baseman
Alex Kokos (fr. Wayne, NJ/Wayne Valley) sent a double to right. Leydon scored on the play and Mendel continued home on an error to give the Profs the lead. Center fielder
Shane Brown (sr. Annandale, NJ/North Hunterdon) followed with a single up the middle and Kokos touched the plate.
Stockton tallied one run in the ninth but right-hander
Rob Grilli (sr. Middletown, NJ/Middletown S.) struck out second baseman Mike DeSenzo (so. Pompton Plains, NJ/Pequannock) to leave two men on base and end the contest. Grilli earned the win after throwing the final three innings. He (3-1) surrendered two runs on three hits and struck out six batters. Righty Alex Humes (jr. Moorestown, NJ/Moorestown) took the loss (0-1).
Kokos finished the game two-for-four with a double, four RBIs and two runs scored. Designated hitter
Joe Sadler (jr. Holmdel, NJ/Holmdel) and Brown each totaled two hits and two RBIs. Sadler hit a double and Brown scored one time. Mendel had two runs and outfielder

Matt Edwards (so. Manasquan, NJ/Manasquan) and Leydon each touched the plate once.
Ospreys' center fielder Zach Gustites (jr. Flemington, NJ/Hunterdon Central) produced two hits (five at bats), a double and three RBIs. First baseman Nick LaPorta (sr. Pompton Plains, NJ/Pequannock) hit a double, drove in two runs and scored one time. Designated hitter David Mann (fr. Waldwick, NJ/Waldwick) and pinch hitter Garrhet Reedy (fr. Tinton Falls, NJ/Monmouth) knocked in one run apiece. Third baseman JJ Swentkowski (so. Egg Harbor Twp., NJ/Egg Harbor Twp.) and left fielder Joe Pipher (jr. Brick, NJ/Brick Mem.) each recorded two runs.
Gustites put Stockton on the board with a two-run double in the top of the second. Rowan responded with six runs in the bottom half. Kokos hit a three-RBI double down the left field line then scored on Brown's base hit. Sadler sent a double to right to plate Brown and Clapper.
The Ospreys cut the deficit to one (6-5) in the third. LaPorta doubled to right center and Pipher and Swentkowski came around to score. LaPorta touched home on a double play. Gustites' single in the sixth plated Mann to tie the game at six. Stockton took a 7-6 lead in the seventh when Mann drew a bases-loaded walk. Reedy brought a run home with an infield single in the ninth but the Ospreys stranded the tying run at third base.
The Profs play their final non-conference game of the season against Moravian College on Wednesday, April 12 at 4 p.m.
