Box Score GLASSBORO, NJ – The Rowan University women's lacrosse team dominated the first half on the way to a 15-9 win over Stockton University in a New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) game on Tuesday.
It was the conference opener for the Profs, who improve to 8-3 overall. The Ospreys had their seven-game win streak snapped in the loss. They have a 7-2 record with a 1-1 NJAC mark.
Attack
Maddie Bray (so. Medford Lakes, NJ/Shawnee) and defender/midfielder
Liz Kramer (so. Mullica Hill, NJ/Clearview Reg.) each scored three goals. Attacks
Rachel Hofbauer (sr. Totowa, NJ/Wayne Valley),
Ali Herbert (sr. Little Egg Harbor, NJ/Pinelands Reg.) and
Jess Havers (so. Marlton, NJ/Cherokee) netted two goals apiece. Herbert added six draw controls.
Defender/midfielder
Taylor Gretz (so. Woolwich Twp., NJ/Kingsway Reg.) tallied one goal and one assist. Kramer and Gretz each picked up five ground balls while Gretz also controlled five draws. Attack
Danielle Hubbs (sr. Shamong, NJ/Seneca) and defender
Giselle Cortes (sr. Pennsauken, NJ/Pennsauken) both hit the net one time. Cortes caused four turnovers. Goalkeeper
Erin Horner (jr. Mullica Hill, NJ/Kingsway Reg.) made two saves.
Midfielder Mary Schmid (so. Lumberton, NJ/Holy Cross) led Stockton with five goals. Midfielder Alexa Rubino (sr. Voorhees, NJ/Eastern Reg.) totaled two goals and one assist. Midfielder Abbey Yannacone (fr. Manahawkin, NJ/Southern Reg.) scored twice. Goalie Maura Twiggs (so. Ocean City, NJ/Ocean City) stopped eight shots and had five ground balls.
Rowan controlled all 12 draws and outscored the Ospreys 10-1 in the first half. Stockton had an 8-5 goal advantage in the second period but the smallest deficit was the final score.
The Profs head to conference foe Montclair State University on Saturday, April 15 at 1 p.m.
