Box Score GLASSBORO, NJ – The Rowan University women's lacrosse team controlled the first half of play then withstood a Maroons' rally for a 13-9 win over visiting Roanoke College on Saturday afternoon.
The Profs (5-2) began the second half with a 9-5 lead over the Maroons (0-9). Attack Allison Beames (sr. Tampa, FL/Midlothian) had the first goal of the period (24:27) for Roanoke. Attacks
Jess Havers (so. Marlton, NJ/Cherokee) and
Maddie Bray (so. Medford Lakes, NJ/Shawnee) scored at 23:33 and 20:48 respectively to make the score 11-6. The Maroons tallied three straight goals to cut the deficit to three (11-9) with 7:40 remaining. Midfielders Hannah Taylor (so. Cambridge, MD/Cambridge-South Dorchester) and Morgan Barlow (fr. South Hamilton, MA/New Hampton) and Beames each hit the net.
Attack
Ali Herbert (sr. Little Egg Harbor, NJ/Pinelands Reg.) controlled the ensuing draw for Rowan and the Profs were able to possess the ball and run out the clock for the rest of the game. Attack
Danielle Hubbs (sr. Shamong, NJ/Seneca) added insurance goals at 4:22 and 2:31 respectively.
Bray finished the contest with four goals while Havers recorded three goals and one assist. Defender/midfielder
Liz Kramer (so. Mullica Hill, NJ/Clearview Reg.), Herbert and Hubbs each scored twice. Herbert also controlled eight draws. Attack

Erin Horner (jr. Mullica Hill, NJ/Kingsway Reg.) made seven saves.
Beames led Roanoke with three goals while attack Courtney McCartin (sr. Ashton, MD/Our Lady of Good Counsel) registered one goal and two assists. Attack Katie Clements (so. Towson, MD/Roland Park Country) contributed with one goal and one assist. Midfielder Mckenna Polak (jr. Hudson, OH/Western Reserve Academy), attack/midfielder Sarah Kroneberger (so. Phoenix, MD/Notre Dame Preparatory), Barlow and Taylor hit the cage one time apiece. Goalie Victoria Smith (so. Greensboro, MD/North Caroline) stopped six shots.
Rowan opened the game with six of the first seven tallies. Kramer, Herbert and Bray netted two goals apiece while McCartin scored for the Maroons. Beames (17:06) and Polak (14:12) each had a marker and the score was 6-3. Bray scored on a free position shot (13:44) and Havers added a goal (7:52) to make it a five-goal game (8-3). After the teams traded goals, Clements deposited the final score of the half with 2:29 left and the Profs were ahead 9-5 at the break.
Rowan is home versus Catholic University on Wednesday, March 29 at 6 p.m.
