Box Score GLASSBORO, NJ – The Rowan University baseball team shut out SUNY New Paltz, 3-0 in a non-conference game on Monday afternoon.
The Profs (11-5) received a stellar outing from right-handed pitcher
Andrew Cartier (so. Estell Manor, NJ/Buena Reg.). He (1-1) hurled eight scoreless innings, allowing just five hits while striking out three.
Rob Grilli (sr. Middletown, NJ/Middletown S.) pitched the ninth for his first save. Lefty Brian LoRusso (jr. Garden City, NY/Garden City) took the loss (1-1) for the Hawks (4-4).

Joe Sadler (jr. Holmdel, NJ/Holmdel) went two-for-three with a double, one RBI and one run scored. Right fielder
Monny Strickland (jr. Egg Harbor Twp., NJ/Egg Harbor Twp.) and third baseman
Matt Jolly (sr. Mount Laurel, NJ/Lenape) recorded two hits and one RBI apiece. Shortstop
Matt Edwards (so. Manasquan, NJ/Manasquan) and center fielder
Shane Brown (sr. Annandale, NJ/North Hunterdon) each crossed the plate one time.
SUNY New Paltz designated hitter Chris Moran (jr. Wading River, NY/Shoreham-Wading River) was two-for-three. Center fielder Jake Williams (jr. Seaford, NY/Seaford) registered a double.
Rowan pushed a run across in the fourth. Sadler led off with a double and Strickland drove him in with a base hit to right field. The Profs tallied two runs in the fifth. Edwards opened the frame with a walk then advanced to second on a passed ball. Brown had a bunt single and Edwards advanced to third. Jolly followed with a single to right center to plate Edwards. Brown went to second on the play. After a sacrifice bunt, Sadler's sac fly brought home Brown.
Rowan travels to Salisbury University on Tuesday, March 21 for a 3:30 p.m. game.
