Box Score CLERMONT, FL – The Rowan University women's lacrosse team defeated Denison University, 16-7 on Friday at the National Training Center. It marked head coach
Lindsay Delaney's 100th career victory.
Defender/midfielder
Taylor Gretz (so. Woolwich Twp., NJ/Kingsway Reg.) led the Profs with four goals and attack
Ali Herbert (sr. Little Egg Harbor, NJ/Pinelands Reg.) contributed with three. Attack
Danielle Hubbs (sr. Shamong, NJ/Seneca) produced three goals and four assists. Attack
Megan Donnelly (sr. Sewell, NJ/Clearview Reg.) chipped in with two goals and two assists.
Defender/midfielder
Liz Kramer (so. Mullica Hill, NJ/Clearview Reg.) added one goal and one assist. Defender
Giselle Cortes (sr. Pennsauken, NJ/Pennsauken) and attacks
Maddie Bray (so. Medford Lakes, NJ/Shawnee) and
Jess Havers (so. Marlton, NJ/Cherokee) all scored one goal. Midfielder
Mikala Gillespie (so. Ocean City, NJ/Ocean City) had one assist. Cortes collected five ground balls and Gretz and Horner each had four. Gretz tallied seven draw controls.
The Profs (3-2) took 28 shots and the Big Red (4-2) had 23. Rowan goalie
Erin Horner (jr. Mullica Hill, NJ/Kingsway Reg.) made seven saves. Goalie Becca Jones started in Denison's goal and made one save in 16:32. Goalie Hannah Magarian played 43:28 and stopped four shots.
For the Big Red, midfielders Leah Israel and Kiely Noonan each scored two goals. Midfielders Claire Ludlow and Reid Hirschey each registered a goal and an assist while attack Virginia Hamilton had one goal.
Noonan tied the score at two (3:46) then Rowan posted six straight goals in a span of 10 minutes. Hubbs scored twice and Donnelly, Herbert, Gretz and Kramer had one goal apiece. Ludlow hit the net on a free position shot (21:06) and the score was 8-4. The Profs ended the half with goals from Bray and Hubbs for a 10-4 advantage at the break.
In the final period, Denison cut the deficit to five (11-6) after goals from Israel and Noonan. Rowan answered with five more goals, which made the score 16-6. Herbert found the net twice and Cortes, Donnelly and Gretz all posted a goal. With 1:55 remaining, Hirschey ended the scoring with a free position goal.
Next week, Rowan travels to Neumann University on Wednesday, March 22 for a 4 p.m. game.
