Box Score GLASSBORO, NJ – The Rowan University women's soccer team defeated Virginia Wesleyan College, 1-0 with a penalty kick on Saturday night.
 
At 72:11, forward 
Melissa Kelly (jr. Pine Brook, NJ/DePaul Catholic) hit the right side of the net.  She was tripped in the box, which resulted in the penalty kick.  It was her fifth goal on the season. 
 
The Profs are undefeated with a 7-0 record and they have seven shutouts.  The Marlins are 2-3 overall.  This week, Rowan is ranked fourth in the South Atlantic Region and 23rd in the nation.
 
Virginia Wesleyan took 13 shots while Rowan had seven.  Goalie 
Shelby Money (so. Vineland, NJ/Vineland) made eight saves for her fourth shutout.  Marlins goalkeeper Taylor Chapman (fr. Fairfax, VA/Chantilly) turned away two shots.
 
The women's soccer team starts its conference schedule at home on Wednesday, Sept. 21 against New Jersey City University at 7 p.m.  Rowan students with ID will have the opportunity to register and one will be selected for the $15,000 Soccer Shot Challenge.
