Seniors Celebrated as #4 Women's Soccer Downs Rutgers-Newark, 7-0; Profs Clinch Regular Season Title

Profs also break program record with its 13th consecutive win

GLASSBORO, NJ -- #4 Women's Soccer wrapped up the top playoff seed while celebrating its five seniors in the Profs' 7-0 win over Rutgers-Newark Friday night.

Sara Wiedeman netted her first career hat trick and added an assist as Rowan (13-0, 8-0 NJAC) also broke a school record for consecutive wins in a season with its 13th in a row.

The Profs, who claimed the regular season championship for the first time since 2023, will have home-field advantage throughout the NJAC postseason and receive a bye into the semifinal round that takes place on Wednesday, November 4th. The NJAC Championship game is slotted for Saturday, November 7th.

Riley Fortna, Hannah Ferris, Gabby Rabinowitz, and Cameron DiMeo also scored for Rowan.

Prior to the game, the coaching staff and team took a moment to honor Wiedeman, Fortna, Siena Sowers, Bella Moore, and Raven Davies and their families in a pregame ceremony.

Rabinowitz started the scoring in the 32nd minute with her first career tally. From there, the floodgates opened as Rowan added three more scores over the next six minutes to race out to a four-goal edge. After Ferris knocked in her second goal of the year, Wiedeman notched two more to add to the lead.

Fortna converted on a penalty kick in the 54th minute for the senior's first collegiate tally.

Wiedeman completed the hat trick in the 60th minute off a nice pass from MaKala Baker. DiMeo capped the scoring in the 82nd minute from an assist by Nina Nocille.

The Profs outshot the Scarlet Raiders, 20-2 and had eight corner kicks on the evening.

Maura Chawner made six stops for Rutgers-Newark (6-6-4, 2-5-1 NJAC) in 61 minutes in net. Goalies Enya Carthy (68 minutes) and Ava Turrisi (22 minutes) combined for the squad's third-straight clean sheet and tenth this season.
