Box Score GLASSBORO, NJ – The Rowan University women's lacrosse team had its season come to an end on Wednesday night in a 10-9 loss to Montclair State University in the New Jersey Athletic Conference semifinals.
The Profs were seeded second and finish the campaign with an 11-6 record. The Red Hawks (12-5) are seeded third and advance to the championship game at top seeded The College of New Jersey (17-1) on Saturday, May 7 at 1 p.m. The winner earns the conference's automatic bid to the NCAA Championship Tournament. The Lions defeated third seeded Stockton University, 15-2 in the other semifinal game.
Montclair State goalie Rebecca Myers (sr. River Edge, NJ/River Dell) made eight saves. Rowan goalie
Erin Horner (so. Mullica Hill, NJ/Kingsway Reg.) stopped 11 shots.
Attack Lindsay Lare (jr. Cape May, NJ/Lower Cape May Reg.) scored three goals and had one assist. Midfielder Kasey Maguire (sr. Marlton, NJ/Cherokee) recorded three goals. Midfielder Chelsea Orban (so. Long Valley, NJ/West Morris Central) tallied two scores. Attacks Serena Hitchens (sr. Voorhees, NJ/Eastern Reg.) and Jessica Andreula (fr. New Egypt, NJ/New Egypt) had one goal apiece.
For Rowan, attack
Rachel Hofbauer (jr. Totowa, NJ/Wayne Valley) hit the back of the net five times. Attack
Megan Donnelly (jr. Sewell, NJ/Clearview Reg.) and defender/midfielder
Kelly O'Brien (jr. Kendall Park, NJ/South Brunswick) each collected one goal and one assist. O'Brien also had six draw controls, five ground balls and two caused turnovers. Attacks

Rachel Emerson (sr. Moorestown, NJ/Moorestown) scored one goal apiece.
Montclair State jumped out to a 2-0 lead after goals by Maguire (1:34) and Orban (4:27). Hofbauer made it 2-1 with 20:15 on the clock. Lare extended the cushion back to two (3-1) at the 16:01 mark. Rowan tied the game with consecutive tallies from Hofbauer (21:37) and Donnelly (22:35). Orban gave the Red Hawks the lead back with 5:37 remaining. Hubbs (25:07) and O'Brien (26:52) then scored back-to-back goals, giving the Profs its first lead, 5-4. Maguire tied the game with 1:52 to play.
The teams traded goals for the first 16 minutes of the second half. Rowan held an 8-7 advantage following a free-position goal by Hofbauer with 13:40 to play. Montclair State tied the game on a goal by Maguire (48:02) and took the lead back on a score by Lare (48:47). Hofbauer knotted the contest at nine with 10:28 remaining. Hitchins tallied the game-winner at the 52:37 mark. The Red Hawks were able to maintain possession for most of the final seven-minutes. Rowan did get the ball back, but could not get a potential game tying shot off in the final minute.
