Box Score GLASSBORO, NJ – The Kean University baseball team held on for a 9-5 conference win at Rowan University on Friday.
Left-hander Richie Ferguson (jr. Flemington, NJ/Immaculata) threw 8.1 winnings for the victory. He is 6-3 on the season. Right-hander
Brad Machinski (jr. Cherry Hill, NJ/Cherry Hill W.) took the loss.
The Cougars have a 24-12 record with a 13-3 mark in the New Jersey Athletic Conference. The Profs are 22-15 overall and 10-6 in the NJAC.
Kean first baseman Matt Krupa (so. Mahwah, NJ/Mahwah) was three for four with a double, three RBIs and two runs scored. Designated hitter Sal Taormina (sr. Brooklyn, NY/Xaverian) registered one hit, two RBIs and one run. Second baseman Ryan Reitmeyer (sr. Lacey Twp., NJ/Lacey Twp.) contributed with two hits, a double, one RBI and one run.
Shortstop Chris Amato (sr. Wayne, NJ/Wayne Hills) and right fielder Ryan Kelley (sr. Marlton, NJ/Cherokee) each tallied two hits. Amato scored twice while Kelly had one run. Catcher Nik Fraim (fr. Barnegat, NJ/Barnegat) added a double and one RBI.
For Rowan, third baseman
Jason Clapper (jr. Mount Laurel, NJ/Lenape), shortstop
Matt Jolly (jr. Mount Laurel, NJ/Lenape) and second baseman
Evan Hughes (sr. Wilmington, DE/Alexis I. duPont) produced two hits apiece. Clapper had a double and scored one run while Jolly and Hughes each contributed one RBI.

Greg Myers (sr. Westmont, NJ/Haddon Twp.), right fielder
Kyle Golla (jr. Palm Coast, FL/Allentown (NJ)) and pinch hitter
Monny Strickland (so. Egg Harbor Twp., NJ/Egg Harbor Twp.) all posted one hit and scored one run. Left fielder
Eric Oliver (sr. Voorhees, NJ/Eastern Reg.) tallied one RBI and one run.
The Cougars led 2-0 after the first inning and the Profs had one run in the second. Clapper came home on Hughes' ground out. Kean was ahead 8-1 after scoring two runs in the fourth, sixth and seventh innings.
Both teams registered one run in the eighth. In the bottom half, Jolly singled in Oliver. Rowan scored three runs in the ninth. Pinch hitter
Steven Hewa (fr. Galloway NJ/Absegami) was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded and Strickland crossed the plate. Oliver reached base on a fielder's choice, scoring Myers. Oliver went to second on a wild pitch while Golla came home.
Rowan ends the regular season at Ramapo College on Saturday, April 30. The conference doubleheader starts at 11:30 a.m.
