Box Score GLASSBORO, NJ – The Rowan University baseball team defeated Stockton University, 7-1 in a New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) game on Friday.
Right-hander
Johnny Dunn (sr. Pitman, NJ/Pitman) pitched a complete game for the win. He (4-2) struck out five batters and gave up one earned run. Righty Kevin Buell (jr. Ocean Twp., NJ/Ocean Twp.) had the loss on the mound.
Left fielder
Eric Oliver (sr. Voorhees, NJ/Eastern Reg.) led Rowan with two hits (two at bats), three RBIs and two runs. Right fielder
Kyle Golla (jr. Palm Coast, FL/Allentown (NJ)) contributed with two hits, two RBIs and two runs. Third baseman
Dillon Mendel (fr. Sparta, NJ/Sparta) registered a triple and one RBI.
Designated hitter
Jason Clapper (jr. Mount Laurel, NJ/Lenape) and shortstop
Matt Jolly (jr. Mount Laurel, NJ/Lenape) each added two hits. Catcher
Greg Myers (sr. Westmont, NJ/Haddon Twp.) had one hit and scored one run.
The Profs are 20-13 overall and 8-4 in the New Jersey Athletic Conference. The Ospreys have a 7-20 record with a 4-8 conference mark.
Stockton shortstop Tyler Hobbs (so. Brick, NJ/Brick Mem.) was three for five with one RBI. Right fielder Matt Poinsett (sr. Ocean Gate, NJ/Monsignor Donovan) registered two hits in five at bats. Pinch hitter Stephen Edelstein (so. Staten Island, NY/Tottenville) tallied one hit and scored the lone run.
Rowan led 2-0 after the third inning. Oliver drove in Golla with a single to left field. Mendel tripled to center field, scoring Oliver. The Profs were ahead 6-0 after four runs in the fourth. Golla and Oliver each recorded a two RBI single. In the seventh, Oliver crossed the plate on an error with Jolly at bat. The Ospreys scored in the ninth. Hobbs scored Edelstein with a single to center field.
The Profs have a home conference doubleheader against William Paterson University on Saturday, April 23 at 11:30 a.m.
