Box Score GLASSBORO, NJ – The Rowan University women's lacrosse team held on to defeat Montclair State University, 13-10 on Saturday afternoon. It was alumni day with more 30 former Glassboro State College/Rowan lacrosse student-athletes in attendance.
The Profs led 10-5 at the break. The Red Hawks got to within two goals (12-10) in the final minutes before attack
Danielle Hubbs (jr. Shamong, NJ/Seneca) put the game away with 2:02 on the clock in the second.
Rowan is 8-4 overall and 2-0 in the New Jersey Athletic Conference. Montclair State has a record of 7-5 and its 0-2 in the conference. Rowan goalie
Erin Horner (so. Mullica Hill, NJ/Kingsway Reg.) stopped 11 shots. Montclair State goalie Rebecca Myers (sr. River Edge, NJ/River Dell) made four saves in 49:12 of action. Goalie Alexandra Tepper (sr. Flanders, NJ/Mount Olive) played the remaining 10:48 and had one save.
Attack
Rachel Hofbauer (jr. Totowa, NJ/Wayne Valley) scored five times. Attack
Jess Havers (fr. Marlton, NJ/Cherokee) recorded three goals. Attack
Maddie Bray (fr. Medford Lakes, NJ/Shawnee) collected two goals and one assist. Defender

Ali Herbert (jr. Little Egg Harbor, NJ/Pinelands Reg.) and Hubbs each scored once. Herbert also controlled five draws. Attack

For Montclair State, attack Aviana Paraggio (jr. Sewell, NJ/Washington Twp.) scored three times. Midfielder Kasey Maguire (sr. Marlton, NJ/Cherokee) and attack Jessica Andreula (fr. New Egypt, NJ/New Egypt) each tallied two goals. Midfielder Chelsea Orban (so. Long Valley, NJ/West Morris Central) chipped in with one goal and two assists. Midfielder Kara Crampton (sr. Kinnelon, NJ/Kinnelon) had one goal and one assist. Attack Serena Hitchens (sr. Voorhees, NJ/Eastern Reg.) added one goal.
Andreula and Hofbauer traded goals to start the second period and Rowan led 11-6 (34:16). The Red Hawks then tallied three straight, two by Maguire and one by Orban, cutting the deficit to two (11-9) with 12:46 on the clock. Bray made it 12-9 (54:51), but Hitchens got Montclair State back to within two (12-10) with 3:26 remaining.
The game was tied at one at the 3:52 mark of the first half after Casterline and Paraggio each hit the back of the net. The Profs recorded the next five goals for a 6-1 lead at the 13:45 mark. Havers and Hofbauer had two scores apiece and Herbert had one. Paraggio trimmed the lead to four (6-2) with 12:56 to play, but Havers (17:26) and Bray (20:51) scored back-to-back, extending the advantage to six (8-2). The teams traded tallies in the final minutes and the score was 10-5 at halftime.
