Box Score GLASSBORO, NJ – The Rutgers-Camden baseball team won 7-4 in 10 innings at Rowan University on Monday.
The score was tied at four after nine innings. First baseman Joe Sigismondi (sr. Blackwood, NJ/Highland Reg.) singled in one run in the 10
th and left fielder Joe Brooks (jr. Blackwood, NJ/Gloucester Catholic) recorded a two run homer.
The Scarlet Raptors are 13-8 overall and 2-4 in the New Jersey Athletic Conference. The Profs have a 13-10 record with a 3-1 conference mark.
Left-hander Andrew Gottstein (sr. Bloomsburg, PA/Bloomsburg) was the winning pitcher in relief. In 6.1 innings, he (3-1) scattered six hits and gave up two runs, one earned. Right-hander
Rob Grilli (jr. Middletown, NJ/Middletown S.) took the loss.
Sigismondi ended the game with two hits, one RBI and two runs. Brooks went three for four with two RBIs and one run. Second baseman Brett Tenuto (sr. Audubon, NJ/Gloucester Catholic) contributed with three hits, one home run, two RBIs and two runs.
For Rowan, third baseman
Matt Jolly (jr. Mount Laurel, NJ/Lenape) was three for five with two runs. Designated hitter
Monny Strickland (so. Egg Harbor Twp., NJ/Egg Harbor Twp.) registered one hit and two RBIs. Shortstop
Jason Clapper (jr. Mount Laurel, NJ/Lenape) and second baseman
Evan Hughes (sr. Wilmington, DE/Alexis I. duPont) had two hits apiece. Catcher
Greg Myers (sr. Westmont, NJ/Haddon Twp.) and right fielder
Kyle Golla (jr. Palm Coast, FL/Allentown (NJ)) each had one RBI.
Rutgers-Camden scored one run in the second inning and Rowan had two in the bottom half. Myers and Golla both posted RBI singles. The Scarlet Raptors tied the score in the third when Tenuto knocked in Sigismondi with a base hit. Both teams scored one run in the fifth inning. Tenuto crossed the plate on a sac fly while Jolly came home on Strickland's sacrifice fly. In the seventh, Rutgers-Camden and Rowan each scored one run. Third baseman Billy Jackson (sr. Estell Manor, NJ/Buena Reg.) singled in the Scarlet Raptors' run while Strickland produced a RBI base hit for the Profs.
Rowan travels to Moravian College on Wednesday, April 13 for a 3:30 p.m. game.
