Box Score GLASSBORO, NJ – The Rowan University baseball team came from behind for a 10-5 victory over York College (PA) on Monday. The game was called in the bottom of the eighth on account of darkness.
Left fielder
Jason Clapper (jr. Mount Laurel, NJ/Lenape) led the Profs with three hits (four at bats), three RBIs and one run. Designated player
Monny Strickland (so. Egg Harbor Twp., NJ/Egg Harbor Twp.) produced two hits, a double, two RBIs and one run. Center fielder
Bret Phillips (sr. Audubon, NJ/Aububon) chipped in with two RBIs and one run.
First baseman
Steven Todd (sr. Millstone Twp., NJ/Allentown) and third baseman
Matt Jolly (jr. Mount Laurel, NJ/Lenape) each had two hits and one RBI. Todd recorded a double and scored two runs. Second baseman
Evan Hughes (sr. Wilmington, DE/Alexis I duPont) added two hits and two runs.
Right-hander
Corey Feigenbaum (sr. West Orange, NJ/West Orange) was the winning pitcher. In two innings, he (1-0) gave up one run and two unearned runs. Righty
Jordan Friedman (so. Cherry Hill, NJ/Cherry Hill E.) earned the save. Chris Wolf (sr. Staten Island, NY/Moore Catholic) had the loss on the mound.
Rowan has a 2-3 record while York is 2-8 overall. For the Spartans, left fielder Sean Mohollen (sr. Rose Valley, PA/Strath Haven) went three for four with a double and two RBIs. Designated hitter Steve Miller (sr. Massapequa, NY/Plainedge) and shortstop Colin Crowell (so. Stewartstown, PA/Kennard-Dale) each had one hit and one RBI. Crowell also scored one run.
The Profs went ahead 7-5 after four runs in the sixth inning. Phillips drove in two runs with a double to right center field. Todd and Phillips came home on Clapper's single to center field. Todd posted a RBI double in the seventh inning. In the eighth, Strickland knocked in Clapper with a double. Strickland went to third on the throw and scored on an error by the catcher.
Rowan got on the scoreboard with one run in the first inning. Jolly had a base hit, scoring Hughes. York led 5-1 after three runs in the third and two in the fifth. In the bottom of the fifth, the Profs scored two runs and trailed 5-3. Clapper and Strickland each had a RBI single.
Rowan has an 11-game slate at the RussMatt Central Florida Invitational from Thursday, March 10 through Saturday, March 19. The baseball team plays Bridgewater College (VA) on Thursday at 12:30 p.m. in Auburndale, FL.
