Box Score GLASSBORO, NJ – The Rowan University women's lacrosse team lost its home opener to the Stevens Institute of Technology, 9-3 on Saturday afternoon.
The Ducks are 2-0 overall and the Profs are 1-1 on the season. Goalie Stephanie Schnelzer (so. Carmel, IN/Carmel) stopped 10 shots. Rowan goalie
Emma Frost (fr. Stewartsville, NJ/Warren Hills Reg.) made four saves.
Attack/midfielder Erika Wilcox (sr. Baldwinsville, NY/C.W. Baker) tallied four goals. Midfielder Kathleen Kalbian (jr. Cheshire, CT/Chesire) scored three times and had one assist. Midfielder Julianna Ricci (so. Millerville, MD/Severna Park) and attack Laura Roberts (jr. West Hartford, CT/Conard) each scored one goal. Attacks Cami Santor (so.Glastonbury, CT/Glastonbury) and Caroline DeLuca (jr. Sayville, NJ/Sayville) added one assist apiece.
For Rowan, attacks
Maddie Bray (fr. Medford Lakes, NJ/Shawnee),
Jess Havers (fr. Marlton, NJ/Cherokee) and
Danielle Hubbs (jr. Shamong, NJ/Seneca) each tallied one goal. Attack
Catie Herod (so. Ocean, NJ/Ocean Twp.) chipped in with one assist.
Ricci put Stevens on the board with 17:48 on the clock in the first half off an assist from Kalbian. Bray tied the game at the 19:50 mark. The Ducks retook the lead with 4:57 remaining on a goal by Kalbian. Roberts made it 3-1, scoring on a free position shot (28:16).
Hubbs trimmed the deficit to 3-2 with a free position goal with 22:46 left in the second half. Kalbian then converted a free position shot for a 4-2 advantage (39:56). Havers hit the back of the net with an assist from Herod to make it 4-3 (41:39). Wilcox then scored three consecutive goals (44:42, 46:43 and 50:18) to open up a 7-3 lead. Kalbian (53:53) and Wilcox (55:43) wrapped up the scoring.
Next, Rowan travels to Washington, DC to face Catholic University on Wednesday, March 9 at 5 p.m.
