Box Score COLLEGEVILLE, PA – The Rowan University women's lacrosse team opened the 2016 season with a 9-5 win at Ursinus College on Wednesday afternoon.

Emma Frost (fr. Stewartsville, NJ/Warren Hills Reg.) made four saves in her first collegiate action. Goalie Margaret Philbin (sr. Danbury, CT/Ridgefield) stopped 11 shots for Ursinus.

Ali Herbert (jr. Little Egg Harbor, NJ/Pinelands Reg.) scored three goals and had six draw controls. Attack
Maddie Bray (fr. Medford Lakes, NJ/Shawnee) collected two goals and one assist. Attack
Jess Havers (fr. Marlton, NJ/Cherokee) tallied two scores. Attack
Rachel Emerson (sr. Moorestown, NJ/Moorestown) had one goal and one assist. Attack
Danielle Hubbs (jr. Shamong, NJ/Seneca) record one goal. Attacks
Rachel Hofbauer (jr. Totowa, NJ/Wayne Valley) and
Megan Donnelly (jr. Sewell, NJ/Clearview Reg.) each added one assist. Midfielder
Taylor Gretz (fr. Woolwich Twp., NJ/Kingsway Reg.) picked up six ground balls and forced four turnovers.
For Ursinus, attack Abby Goldstein (fr. Wynnewood, PA/Lower Merion) contributed with two goals. Attack Devin Brakel (sr. West Windsor, NJ/West Windsor Plainsboro N.) had one goal and one assist. Midfielder Courtney Cortese (fr. Malvern, PA/Great Valley) and attack Taylor DeBernardi (so. Springfield, PA/Springfield) chipped in with one goal apiece. Attack/defender Jules Krasutsky (so. Shrewsbury, NJ/Red Bank Catholic) had one assist.
Bray put the Profs on the board at the 4:02 mark with her first collegiate tally. Herbert doubled the lead with 18:01 to play in the first. Herbert made it 3-0 (13:53) with a goal off an assist from Emerson. Ursinus trimmed the deficit to two (3-1) with 11:54 on the clock as Cortese scored. On Rowan's ensuing possession Bray found Hubbs who hit the back of the net for a 4-1 lead (19:13). The Profs recorded the final two goals of the half as Herbert picked-up her third (24:40) and Havers scored from Hofbauer (25:39), for a 6-1 advantage at the break.
Havers collected her second goal with 27:57 remaining in the second. Ursinus then recorded three consecutive goals, one each by DeBernardi (32:49), Brakel (40:50) and Goldstein (50:07) to get to within three (7-4). Bray made it 8-4 with a goal from Donnelly (53:46). The Bears cut the lead back to three (8-5) on a tally by Goldstein (54:09). Emerson capped the scoring at the 56:47 mark.
Rowan plays its home opener on Saturday, March 5 at 1 p.m. against Stevens Institute of Technology.
