Women's Lacrosse Records 15-9 Victory Over Western New England In Florida

Box Score CLERMONT, FL – The Rowan University women's lacrosse team recorded a 15-9 win over Western New England University on Tuesday morning at the National Training Center in Clermont, FL.
 
The Profs are 3-2 on the season and the Bears are 4-2 overall. Rowan goalie Erin Horner (so. Mullica Hill, NJ/Clearview Reg.) made four saves. Western New England goalie Shannon McFadden (so. West Islip, NJ/West Islip) stopped 18 shots.
 
Attack Rachel Hofbauer (jr. Totowa, NJ/Wayne Valley) poured in four goals. Attacks Danielle Hubbs (jr. Shamong, NJ/Seneca), Rachel Emerson (sr. Moorestown, NJ/Moorestown) and Megan Donnelly (jr. Sewell, NJ/Clearview Reg.) each scored twice. Attacks Kim Doyle (so. Wayne, NJ/Wayne Valley), Jess Havers (fr. Marlton, NJ/Cherokee) and Maddie Bray (fr. Medford Lakes, NJ/Shawnee) along with midfielder Ali Herbert (jr. Little Egg Harbor, NJ/Pinelands Reg.) and defender Jess Casterline (sr. Bridgewater, NJ/Bridgewater-Raritan) tallied one goal apiece. Midfielders Mikala Gillespie (fr. Woodbine, NJ/Ocean City) and Taylor Gretz (fr. Woolwich Twp., NJ/Kingsway Reg.) each added one assist.
 
For Western New England, attack Brooke Kumnick (sr. Granby, CT/Granby Mem.) collected four goals and one assist. Attack Taylor Scialdone (sr. Yorktown Heights, NY/Lakeland) had two goals and three assists. Attack Julia Winer (so. Longmeadow, MA/Wilbraham & Monson Academy) chipped in with two goals and attack Kristen Breen (fr. Ellington, CT/Ellington) had one tally.
 
The contest was tied at three with 14:58 to play in the first half. Rowan then scored six consecutive goals to take a 9-3 lead at the 22:01 mark. Hofbauer scored two goals (15:23 and 16:58) and four other Profs had one. The score was 10-4 at halftime. Western New England made it 10-5 (30:51), then Rowan tallied three straight to open up a 13-5 advantage (39:05). Kumnick (57:54) and Scialdone (59:57) scored in the final minutes, making the final margin six.
 
Next, Rowan plays SUNY Fredonia on Friday, March 18 in Clermont, FL at noon.
