Randolph-Macon Baseball Sweeps Doubleheader, 7-0 and 8-7 Against Rowan

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 ASHLAND, VA  – The Randolph-Macon College baseball team swept a doubleheader, 7-0 and 8-7 against Rowan University on Sunday.
 
The Yellow Jackets are undefeated with a 9-0 record while the Profs are 0-3 on the season.  Right-hander Colin Selby was the winning pitcher in the opener.  He (2-0) went eight innings and only allowed four hits.  Dylan Johannink (sr. Medford Lakes, NJ/Shawnee) had the loss on the mound.
 
For Randolph-Macon, left fielder Cole Migliorini and first baseman Jay Patti each contributed with two RBIs.  Catcher Mitchell Keeler went two for four at the plate with one RBI and two runs scored.  Shortstop Jeffrey Butler chipped in with two hits and one run.  Rowan designated hitter Monny Strickland (so. Egg Harbor Twp., NJ/Egg Harbor Twp.) had two hits in four at bats. 
 
In the second contest, third baseman Travis Lodge hit a two-run homer in the eighth inning, which put Randolph-Macon ahead 8-6.  Second baseman Evan Hughes (sr. Wilmington, DE/Alexis L. duPont) doubled in Rowan's final run in the ninth.  He knocked in first baseman Steven Todd (sr. Millstone Twp., NJ/Allentown) who had a double before Hughes' at bat. 
 
Todd ended the game with three hits in four at bats and three runs.  Hughes went two for three with two RBIs.  Left fielder Eric Oliver (sr. Voorhees, NJ/Eastern Reg.) contributed with two hits, one RBI and one run.  Center fielder Bret Phillips (sr. Audubon, NJ/Audubon) added two RBIs and Strickland had one.
 
The Profs jumped out to a 3-0 lead after two runs in the first inning and one in the second.  Strickland drove in one run in the first with a single up the middle and he later stole home.  In the second, Todd crossed the plate on Phillips' ground out.  Rowan added three runs in the fourth.  Hughes recorded a sacrifice fly that scored shortstop Joe Craig (fr. Cherry Hill, NJ/Camden Catholic).  Phillips posted his second RBI with another ground out and Oliver singled home Todd.
 
The Yellow Jackets started their come back with one run in the fourth and fifth innings.  They tied the game at six with four runs in the sixth inning.  Second baseman Herminio Azor singled in the first run.  Lodge walked with the bases loaded.  Migliorini had a two-RBI single. 
 
Rowan's home opener is scheduled for Sunday, March 6 against Stevens Institute of Technology at noon.
