Box Score GLASSBORO, NJ – The Rowan University field hockey team won 7-3 over Stevenson University on Wednesday evening.
Midfielder
Johanna James (sr. Gloucester City, NJ/Gloucester City) led the way with three goals. Forward
Sam Browne (sr. West Milford, NJ/West Milford) contributed with two goals. Forwards
Rachel Galante (fr. Mount Laurel, NJ/Collingswood) and
Erica Faraone (jr. Cranford, NJ/Cranford) each produced one goal and one assist. Midfielder
Jacqui Rosati (fr. Haddon Heights, NJ/Paul VI) and back
Marisa Marini (sr. Carneys Point, NJ/Padua Academy (DE)) had one assist apiece.
For the Mustangs, midfielder Rosemarie Neiva (jr. Selden, NY/Newfield) scored twice and forward/midfielder Alexis Young (fr. York, PA/Central York) had one goal. Forward Sara McVey (fr. New Castle, DE/St. George's) and back Marissa Hoffman (fr. Elizabethtown, PA/Lower Dauphin) each registered an assist. Hoffman also recorded a defender save.
The Profs have a 3-2 record and the Mustangs drop to 0-6 on the season. For Rowan, goalie
Carly DeMarco (so. Gloucester City, NJ/Gloucester City) stopped seven shots and back
Abbie Tucker (so. Voorhees, NJ/Eastern Reg.) made one defender save. Stevenson goalie Talia Parish (fr. Crownsville, MD/Old Mill) collected five saves.
Rowan was ahead 3-1 after the first half. James scored two straight goals (5:10, 10:29) and Browne hit the cage one time (11:20). Neiva put Stevenson on the board at 26:56 with an assist from Hoffman.
In the second period, Neiva pulled the Mustangs within one (3-2) at 36:04. Rowan answered with an unassisted goal (42:40) by Galante. Faraone made the score 5-2 with a penalty stroke three minutes later. Young had Stevenson's final goal at 49:44 when she knocked in a rebound. Browne (50:21) and James (59:40) followed with one goal apiece.
Next, Rowan travels to Eastern University on Saturday, Sept. 19 for a noon contest.
