TCNJ Women's Lacrosse Defeats Rowan 14-5 To Win NJAC Championship

Box Score EWING, NJ – The College of New Jersey women's lacrosse team won 14-5 over Rowan University in the New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) championship game on Saturday afternoon.
 
The Lions (16-3) earn the conference's automatic bid to the NCAA Division III Championship Tournament. The Profs have their season come to an end with a 10-7 record. The NCAA selection show is on Sunday, May 3 at 9:30 p.m. on ncaa.com.
 
Attack Kendal Borup (sr. Plainsboro, NJ/West Windsor-Plainsboro S.) led TCNJ with five goals. Attack/midfielder Ava Fitzgerald (sr. Merrick, NJ/Calhoun) produced four goals. Midfielder/attack Cortney Natalicchio (jr. New Egypt, NJ/New Egypt) registered three goals and one assist. Attack Erin Healy (sr. Spring Lake Heights, NJ/Manasquan) added two goals and one assist. Attack Mia Blackman (so. Arlington, VA/Field School) chipped in with one assist.
 
For the Profs, attack Kim Doyle (fr. Wayne, NJ/Wayne Valley) scored three goals. Attack Vicky Sucharski (sr. Cinnaminson, NJ/Cinnaminson) and midfielder Brittany Bollendorf (jr. Sewell, NJ/Washington Twp.) each recorded one goal. Midfielder Jamie Blondina (sr. Toms River, NJ/Toms River S.) and defender Giselle Cortes (so. Pennsauken, NJ/Pennsauken) tallied one assist apiece.
 
TCNJ tallied the first six goals of the game, for a 6-0 lead with 17:53 to play. Sucharski put Rowan on the scoreboard at the 14:33 mark. Fitzgerald made it 7-1 (18:29) then Doyle hit the back of the net twice (20:17 and 22:20) to cut the deficit to four (7-3). The Lions scored the final three goals of the first half and held a 10-3 advantage at halftime.
 
Bollendorf trimmed the lead to 10-4 (35:11) then TCNJ recorded four straight goals, making the score 14-4 with 9:04 to play in the second half. The score was 14-5 at the 56:05 mark after Doyle tallied her third goal of the contest.
