Box Score GLASSBORO, NJ – The Rowan University women's lacrosse team celebrated its senior day with an 18-7 victory over Eastern University on Saturday afternoon.
Rowan finishes the regular season with a 9-6 record and Eastern concludes its campaign with a 6-11 mark. Profs' goalie
Erin Horner (fr. Mullica Hill, NJ/Kingsway Reg.) stopped three shots in 41:55 of action.
Megan Welch (fr. Scotch Plains, NJ/Scotch Plains-Fanwood) played 18:05 and made four saves. Eagles' goalie Cortney Andes (jr. Cheshire, CT/Cheshire) played the first half and recorded nine saves. Alina Odjemski (fr. Cinnaminson, NJ/Cinnaminson) was in goal for the second half and had two saves.
Midfielder
Brittany Bollendorf (jr. Sewell, NJ/Washington Twp.) scored five times and controlled seven draws to lead Rowan. Midfielder
Jamie Blondina (sr. Toms River, NJ/Toms River S.) tallied three goals and one assist. Attack
Vicky Sucharski (sr. Cinnaminson, NJ/Cinnaminson) registered one goal and three assists.
Attacks
Rachel Emerson (jr. Moorestown, NJ/Moorestown) and
Danielle Hubbs (so. Shamong, NJ/Seneca) along with defender
Giselle Cortes (so. Pennsauken, NJ/Pennsauken) each recorded two goals. Attacks
Rachel Hofbauer (so. Wayne, NJ/Wayne Valley) and
Alex DeGaris (fr. Hillsborough, NJ/Hillsborough) and defender
Jess Casterline (jr. Bridgewater, NJ/Bridgewater-Raritan) added one goal apiece.
For Eastern, midfielder Anna Charlebois (so. Royersford, PA/Spring-Ford) and attack Victoria Rath (fr. Barto, PA/The Perkiomen School) each scored two goals. Midfielder Julie Haggan (fr. Warren, NJ/Scotch Plains-Fanwood), attack Jenn McKelvie (so. Westminster, MD/Westminster) and attack/midfielder Stephanie Biancucci (jr. Wenham, MA/Hamilton Wenham) chipped in with one goal apiece. Defender Stephanie Hogan (jr. Doylestown, PA/Central Bucks W.) had one assist.
Rath put Eastern ahead 1-0 at the 0:41 mark. Bollendorf (1:24), Sucharski (5:54) and Blondina (6:30) each hit the back of the net once to give Rowan a 3-1 advantage. The Eagles then took the lead back, 4-3 after two goals by Charlebois (7:47 and 8:51) and one by McKelvie (10:22). The Profs registered the next 12 goals to out in front 15-4 with 4:58 on the clock. Rath tallied a score with 3:27 remaining, making it 15-5 at halftime. Rowan outscored Eastern 3-2 in the second half to come away with the 11-goal victory.
Next, Rowan travels to Montclair State University for the semifinals of the New Jersey Athletic Conference Championship Tournament on Wednesday, April 29. A start time has yet to be determined.
