Box Score UNION, NJ – The Rowan University baseball team dropped its New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) game at Kean University, 10-5 on Friday.
The Cougars are 28-8 on the season and they have a 12-4 conference mark. The Profs have a 22-11 record and they are 11-5 in the NJAC. Lefty Richie Ferguson (so. Flemington, NJ/Immaculata) pitched into the eighth inning for the win (6-0). He surrendered five runs on nine hits while striking out five. Right-handed pitcher Vinny Zanfordino (jr. Second baseman Tom McGuckin (sr. Bayonne, NJ/Bayonne) went three-for-four with one RBI and two runs scored. Designated hitter Anthony Fischetti (sr. Clark, NJ/Arthur L. Johnson) had two hits (four at bats), a home run, three RBIs and two runs scored. Shortstop Ryan Reitmeyer (jr. Lacey Twp., NJ/Lacey Twp.) produced a home run and three RBIs and crossed the plate one time. First baseman Sal Taormina (jr. Brooklyn, NY/Xaverian) drove in one run.

Taormina drove in Kean's first run in the opening frame. His single to left brought home center fielder Matt Meleo (jr. Jackson, NJ/Jackson Mem.). Reitmeyer blasted a three-run homer to left in the second. The Profs got on the scoreboard in the third when Oliver's single plated Myers. In the bottom half, McGuckin's base hit scored right fielder Ryan Kelley (jr. Marlton, NJ/Cherokee) and Fischetti followed with a three-run shot to left. Rowan tallied four runs in the fifth. Myers singled in Kreiger, Hughes came home on Oliver's groundout and McMenamin hit a two-run single to center. Third baseman Matt Krupa (fr. Mahwah, NJ/Mahwah) touched the plate on a passed ball in the bottom of the inning and the Cougars led 9-5. Catcher Michael Kendall (jr. Columbus, NJ/Northern Burlington County Reg.) scored the final run on a double play in the ninth.
The Profs end the regular season with a home doubleheader versus Ramapo College on Saturday, April 25 at 11:30 a.m.
