Box Score MONTCLAIR, NJ – The Rowan University women's lacrosse team lost its New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) game, 14-13 at Montclair State University on Saturday.
Midfielder Jenna Bussiere (sr. Dayton, NJ/South Brunswick) led Montclair State with four goals and two assists. Midfielder Francesca Verrone (so. Flanders, NJ/Mount Olive) scored three goals. Attack Tierney Conlon (sr. Caldwell, NJ/Caldwell) had two goals and two assists. Attack Aviana Paraggio (so. Sewell, NJ/Washington Twp.) registered two goals. Midfielders Kasey Maguire (jr. Marlton, NJ/Cherokee) and Serena Hitchins (jr. Voorhees, NJ/Eastern Reg.), along with attack Alexa DiPiero (jr. Cherry Hill, NJ/Cherry Hill E.) tallied one goal apiece.
For Rowan, attack
Becca Wood (sr. Cherry Hill, NJ/Cherry Hill E.) produced five goals and two assists. Midfielder
Jamie Blondina (sr. Toms River, NJ/Toms River S.) scored five times and assisted on one. Attacks
Vicky Sucharski (sr. Cinnaminson, NJ/Cinnaminson) and
Rachel Emerson (jr. Moorestown, NJ/Moorestown) registered two goals and one goal respectively. Midfielder
McKayla Earley (fr. Sewell, NJ/Washington Twp.) added one assist.
Montclair State goalie Alexandra Tepper (jr. Flanders, NJ/Mount Olive) made three saves in 30:00 of action. Goalie Rebecca Myers (jr. River Edge, NJ/River Dell) played 30:00 and stopped six shots. Rowan goalie
Erin Horner (fr. Mullica Hill, NJ/Kingsway Reg.) recorded 11 saves. Montclair State has an overall record of 7-4 and they are 3-0 in the NJAC. Rowan drops to 4-5 and 1-2 in the conference.
Paraggio (3:09) and Bussiere (3:38) gave Montclair State a 2-0 lead. Rowan tied the game as Emerson (4:48) and Wood (7:00) each scored. The Red Hawks then tallied four straight goals for a 6-2 advantage with 17:27 on the clock. Wood cut the deficit to 6-3 (14:02) but Montclair responded with goals by Hitchins (16:56) and DiPiero (18:03), making the score 8-3. Blondina hit the back of the net three times (18:46, 27:13 and 27:54), trimming the lead to 8-6 at halftime.
Montclair State opened the second with two consecutive tallies by Paraggio (32:56) and Verrone (34:30). Wood then scored two consecutive goals and Sucharski registered a score to get Rowan to within one (10-9) with 18:55 remaining. The Red Hawks opened up a four-goal cushion (13-9) after scores by Bussiere (41:57), Conlon (42:46) and Bussiere (45:05). Sucharski (50:40) and Blondina (54:38) produced goals to make it 13-11, but Verrone extended the lead to 14-11 with 3:09 on the clock. Blondina (57:12) and Wood (59:58) recorded goals to make the final 14-13.
