Box Score 2 VIRGINIA BEACH, VA – The Rowan University baseball team split a doubleheader against Oswego State on Sunday. The Profs won the first game, 3-2 and the Lakers came back to take the second, 9-8. The contests were played at Virginia Wesleyan College.
In the opener, pinch hitter
Monny Strickland (fr. Egg Harbor Twp., NJ/Egg Harbor Twp.) knocked in the winning run with a double in the bottom of the ninth. With two outs, left fielder
Eric Oliver (jr. Voorhees, NJ/Eastern Reg.) singled down the right field line. Strickland's hit went to left center field, scoring Oliver.
Right-hander
Brad Machinski (so. Cherry Hill, NJ/Cherry Hill W.) recorded the victory on the mound in relief. He (1-0) pitched 1.1 innings and only gave up one hit. Lefty Charles Arcuri (so. Monroe, NY/Washingtonville) was the losing pitcher.
Oliver ended the game with two hits (four at bats), one RBI and one run. First baseman
Steven Todd (jr. Millstone Twp., NJ/Allentown) contributed with one hit and one RBI. Catcher
Stephen Petriello (jr. South Plainfield, NJ/South Plainfield) produced one hit and scored one time. Center fielder

Kevin McMenamin (sr. Maple Shade, NJ/Maple Shade) registered one hit apiece while designated hitter
Casey Grimes (sr. Gibbstown, NJ/Paulsboro) scored one run.
For Oswego State, third baseman Eric Hamilton (so. Liverpool, NY/Cicero-North Syracuse) tallied one hit and two RBIs. Right fielder John Rauseo (sr. Mattituck, NY/Mattituck) and shortstop Kyle Simmons (jr. Watertown, NY/Watertown) each scored one run. Rauseo also had a hit.
The Profs had a 2-0 advantage with two runs in the seventh inning. Todd drove in Grimes for the first run with a base hit to third. Grimes got on base when he was hit by a pitch. Oliver's single brought home Petriello who reached on an error. Oswego tied the score in the top of the eighth. Hamilton posted a two RBI single up the middle.
Right-hander Mickey Putillo (sr. Brewster, NY/North Salem) was the winning pitcher in the second game. He threw 2.1 innings and gave up three hits and one earned run. Reliever
Johnny Dunn (sr. Pitman, NJ/Pitman) pitched the ninth and had the loss.
Catcher Kyle Liner (sr. Cooperstown, NY/Cooperstown) recorded five hits in five trips to the plate and one RBI. Second baseman Brian Hamilton (jr. Liverpool, NY/Cicero-North Syracuse) totaled three hits in four at bats, one RBI and three runs scored.
Left fielder Myles Kutscher (so. Glen Cove, NY/North Shore) tallied three RBIs, one hit and one run. First baseman Jordan Giller (jr. Toronto, ONT/William Lyon Mackenzie) went three for four with a double, one RBI and one run. Simmons chipped in with two hits, one triple and two runs scored.
Todd was four for five with a double and one run. Shortstop

Rowan trailed 7-2 after six innings and took the lead with six runs in the bottom of the seventh. Stickland and Ras both came home on wild pitches. Clapper drove in McMenamin and Grimes with a base hit. Leydon had a RBI single and Todd scored when Ras was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded.
In the eighth, Brian Hamilton crossed the plate when Kutscher grounded out and the score was tied at eight. Simmons came home on a wild pitch for the winning run in the ninth after he had a triple to left center field.
