Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 VIRGINIA BEACH, VA – The Rowan University baseball team had a rough start to the 2015 season with two losses, 3-0 and 10-2 against Oswego State on Saturday.  The doubleheader was played at Virginia Wesleyan College.
 
Left-hander Brendyn Karinchak (sr. Walden, NY/Valley Central) was the winning pitcher in the opener.  In eight innings, he had eight strikeouts and only allowed four hits.  Righty Pat Brown (sr. Liverpool, NY/Liverpool) pitched the final inning and recorded a save.  Right-hander Ryan Easterday (sr. Westmont, NJ/Haddon Twp.) took the loss.  He threw seven innings and gave up seven hits and three runs, two earned. 
 
Designated hitter Myles Kutscher (so. Glen Cove, NY/North Shore) was two for four with one RBI.  Center fielder Eli Holton (fr. Hancock, NY/Hancock) contributed with two hits in two at bats.  Third baseman Eric Hamilton (so. Liverpool, NY/Cicero-North Syracuse) chipped in with one hit (three at bats) and one RBI.  Outfielder Dan Saccocio (sr. Scotia, NY/Glenville) scored two runs and had one hit.  Second baseman Brian Hamilton (jr. Liverpool, NY/Cicero-North Syracuse) added one hit and one run. 
 
For the Profs, third baseman Kevin McMenamin (sr. Maple Shade, NJ/Maple Shade) produced two hits (four at bats) and first baseman Casey Grimes (sr. Gibbstown, NJ/Paulsboro) had one (four at bats).
 
In the nightcap, right-hander Miles Kelly (jr. Clifton Park, NY/Shenendehowa) pitched eight innings for the victory.  He scattered four hits and allowed two earned runs.  Kelly struck out seven batters.  Righty Nick Juliano (jr. Erial, NJ/Highland Reg.) had the loss.    
 
Kutscher led the Lakers with three hits in five at bats, four RBIs and a double.  Saccocio totaled three hits (four at bats) and four runs.  Brian Hamilton went two for three with a double, three RBIs and two runs scored.  Eric Hamilton registered three hits, two RBIs and one run.
 
Rowan center fielder Ryan Pavlik (sr. Blackwood, NJ/Highland Reg.) had two hits in four trips to the plate.  Left fielder Nick Kreiger (sr. Manalapan, NJ/Manalapan) scored one run and McMenamin recorded a double.  Designated hitter Monny Strickland (fr. Egg Harbor Twp., NJ/Egg Harbor Twp.) posted one RBI while right fielder Steven Todd (jr. Millstone Twp., NJ/Allentown) tallied one hit and one run.
 
On Sunday (March 8), Rowan plays Oswego State (2-0) in a twin bill starting at 11 a.m.
