Jesse Novak won the 100 freestyle championship and earned All-America honors on Saturday at the NCAA Men's Swimming and Diving Championships. Diver
John Morris competed on the three-meter board during the final day of the championships at the CISD Natatorium.
Novak (so. Bridgewater, NJ/Bridgewater-Raritan) had a time of 43.68, breaking the school record, which he set in the prelims. He won the sixth heat during prelims, recording a time of 44.23. The record was previously set by Max Tyburski (44.66) in March, 2012. Novak entered the final as the second seed. He won the national championship in the 50 freestyle (19.89) on Wednesday night.
"I couldn't be happier, it feels amazing, it means so much to me to know that I have so much support from my team and from my school," said Novak. "I did this for Rowan."
Novak is the second swimmer in program history to win multiple national championships (Joe Sansone – 1976). He is also just the seventh swimmer in the history of the NCAA Men's Swimming and Diving Championships to win the 50 and 100 freestyles.
Morris (so. Bridgeton, NJ/Cumberland Reg.) scored 428.05 points for a 20th place finish in the three-meter. On Thursday, he earned All-America honorable mention on the one-meter board after finishing 12th (425.70).
