Box Score GLASSBORO, NJ – The Rowan University women's soccer team defeated Lynchburg College, 1-0 in the second round of the NCAA Division III Championship Tournament on Sunday evening.
Midfielder
Darah Wagner (fr. Hamilton, NJ/Steinert) scored the winning goal at 88:28. She headed in a corner kick by forward
Maxine New (jr. Clayton, NJ/Clayton). The Profs had also taken a corner kick right before the goal at 88:02. Goalie
Shelby Money (fr. Vineland, NJ/Vineland) recorded her seventh shutout with five saves.
Rowan (15-2-2) will play at Messiah College (20-0-2) on Saturday, Nov. 21 at 11 a.m. In the first round, the Profs shut out Lasell College, 2-0 and Lynchburg had a 1-0 win over Babson College.
The Profs received an automatic bid to the national tournament as the champion of the New Jersey Athletic Conference. It is Rowan's 11th appearance in the NCAA and the second time the team has advanced to the third round.
Lynchburg ends the season with a 20-3-2 record and was the defending national champion. This was the Hornets' ninth consecutive and 16th overall trip to the national tournament.
The sectionals are on Friday and Saturday, November 20 and 21 or Saturday and Sunday, November 21 and 22. The national semifinals and final are scheduled for Friday and Saturday, December 4 and December 5 at Swope Soccer Village in Kansas City, MO.
