Box Score GLASSBORO, NJ – The Rowan University field hockey team won 8-0 over conference opponent Stockton University on Wednesday night.
It was the Profs' third straight shutout victory. Rowan has a 6-4 record with a 1-0 New Jersey Athletic Conference mark. The Ospreys are 2-8 overall and 0-2 in the conference.
Forward
Rachel Galante (fr. Mount Laurel, NJ/Collingswood) scored two goals and had one assist. Forward
Jenna Pressler (jr. Medford, NJ/Shawnee) contributed with two goals and back
Marisa Marini (sr. Carneys Point, NJ/Padua Academy (DE)) produced one goal and two assists.
Forwards
Johanna James (sr. Gloucester City, NJ/Gloucester City) and
Nikki Kotelnicki (fr. Columbus, NJ/Northern Burlington County Reg.) and back
Allison Engle (jr. Medford, NJ/Shawnee) each hit the cage one time. Forward
Alexa Bonomo (fr. Sewell, NJ/Gloucester Catholic) chipped in with an assist.
Goalies
Carly DeMarco (so. Gloucester City, NJ/Gloucester City) and
Suzy Mansour (so. Bordentown, NJ/Bordentown Reg.) shared the shutout. For the Ospreys, goalie Emily Sorochynskyj (so. Boonton, NJ/Boonton) made three saves in 56:41 and Courtney Birdsall (fr. Bridgeton, NJ/Cumberland Reg.) played the final 13:19.
The Profs produced three goals in the first half. Galante recorded back-to-back goals at 2:05 and 11:28 on penalty corners with assists from Marini. At 18:43, Marini scored on a pass from Galante. Pressler hit the right side of the cage (42:03). James tallied the fifth goal on a breakaway (50:50) and Pressler followed with her second of the night (53:59). Kotelnicki registered an unassisted goal at 62:16. Engle ended the scoring with 2:19 remaining and Bonomo had the assist.
Next, Rowan travels to Ramapo College on Saturday, Oct. 10 for a 1 p.m. conference game.
